On Wednesday 20th November, 6th class played in the AIJS Hockey Tournament.
There were five divisions. My team, the Jaguars, played in division B1. Even
though we lost all our matches, it was great fun. At the end, there was a prizegiving. Mount Anville didn’t win anything, but we all still played well. We’d all
like to give a big thank you to all the different schools for coming to play, and
another thank you to Ms Heffernan for organising it.
On Wednesday, the 20th of November, 6th class held a hockey blitz. 9 different
schools came to compete; Notre Dame, Alexandra College, Teresians, St.
Gerard’s, St. Killian’s, Headfort School, Rathdown, St. Andrew’s, Castle Park
and Mount Anville.
The week before, Tuesday the 12th, we were split into 5 different teams; the
Panthers, the Jaguars, the Leopards, the Tigers and the Lions. Each team had 2
transition year girls as their coaches. They taught us new drills and told us new
tactics.
When the big day came, we warmed up together and then went into our
individual teams. We each played 3 matches against 3 different schools.
Everyone took turns at being substitutes and cheered on the teams. There was
delicious fruit and drinks on a table outside the pitches.
We all played our best and had so much fun. We would like to give a big thankyou to Ms. Heffernan for organising all of the blitz and to all of the transition
year students who coached us.
Leinster Hockey League Match
On Friday the 22nd of November the Lions team went to
Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club to play their first match for
the Leinster tournament. We were playing against Taney
National School. Sadly, we lost, but all of us enjoyed it and
loved the experience. We’d like to thank Ms Heffernan for
organising it and the mums and Ms McDonald for coaching
us. We had so much fun playing the match.
Thank You.
On Friday the 22nd of November the hockey squad had their
first league match. It was against Taney in Three Rock Rovers.
There were two teams from Mount Anville the Lions and the
Tigers. Both teams had 12 people on them. I was on the
Tigers team and our captain was Alice. Taney played really
well. In the end, our team won but it was very close. We all
congratulated Taney.
We would all like to thank Ms Heffernan, Ms McDonald and
all the parents who helped out, we really enjoyed ourselves.
Mount Anville Sports
At PE we are doing warm up activities at the start of PE, we also get really
giddy. On Mondays our PE sport is hockey. Sometimes when we’re inside we
do basketball. We sometimes do parachute games like fruit bowl (in case you
are wondering what fruit bowl is, it is a games where some people try to get
balls into the parachute and the others try to get the balls out). We sometimes
do cool down games at the end. We also did scavenger hunts and most of the
sports are team games
