Social Security Optimal Choice

Announcing a New Member Benefit Program
Social Security Optimal Choice
Jointly sponsored by NYSDA and Altfest Personal Wealth Management
Smart decisions on Social Security retirement benefits can potentially mean tens of thousands of dollars,
or more, for you and your family. As New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) members, you and
your spouse can now take advantage of a new complimentary program that provides guidance in this
important area. The program is sponsored by NYSDA and provided by Altfest Personal Wealth
Management, which is endorsed by NYSDA to work with its members.
Altfest, a 31-year-old, independent fee-only financial planning firm, has been named one of the top RIAs
by Financial Times. Its founder and CEO, Lew Altfest, has been named a Top Independent Financial
Advisor by Barron’s. The firm specializes in working with dentists and has been endorsed by NYSDA since
2010. In addition to having NYSDA members as ongoing clients, the firm regularly publishes articles and
presents seminars as part of its goal to educate members about their finances.
While Social Security’s long-term viability has been questioned, Altfest believes that dentists
approaching retirement have no reason to fear substantial benefit reductions. More important
questions are when to begin taking benefits and how to get the most out of spousal benefits. Dentists
born in 1943 through 1954 can begin receiving full benefits at 66 - benefits are reduced if taken earlier
and increased if taken later. Spouses can collect on each other’s records. Smart Social Security claiming
decisions can maximize benefits.
Altfest is making it easy for you to take advantage of this complimentary member benefit. Enclosed are
step-by-step instructions for sending Altfest a small amount of information, as well as an envelope.
Altfest will arrange a time to discuss their recommendations with you in one of three mutually
convenient ways: a meeting at their Manhattan offices, a videoconferencing session, or a phone call.
To further assist you, Altfest is offering a 20-minute webinar at 5:30 p.m. on July 10th to describe the
program. We encourage you and your spouse to take part. To register, go online and type into your
internet navigation bar: www.altfest.com/webinar.php . After completing the form, you will receive a
confirmation email with a link to the webinar as well as pass code information.
The deadline to send in your information to take advantage of this member benefit is July 25. We
urge you to take advantage of this complimentary service, which can help you achieve the financially
independent retirement that is so important to all of us.
Sincerely,
Joseph
