The Rosary
October is the month of the Rosary when we are encouraged to pray the Rosary for peace in our world.
The Rosary is very special to us as our school is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. Next week we will
have a special week of prayer using our Rosary beads. We are asking the children (Y. 1-6) to bring their
Rosary to school every day. The week will finish with our special Mass on Friday to which all parents
/parishioners are invited.
Coffee Mornings with Mrs Hickman
The coffee mornings were well attended and I hope parents who came along found them useful. I am
grateful to all those who offered suggestions relating to library use and improvements to our school.
These will be shared with governors and some could become objectives in our next school development
plan. For those of you unable to attend I have uploaded the powerpoint outlining changes in assessment
from this year, onto the VLE. If you were unable to attend and want to share ideas about possible
library use or school developments please do send a note your class teacher.
Safeguarding
Parents’ personal e-mail and phone numbers
We ask parents to give details of e-mail and telephone numbers to class reps so that they can be
contacted about PTA events, class masses/assemblies etc. Parents must not use these details to
contact other parents about issues relating to children within the class. This is an inappropriate use of
personal information. Any incident of concern must be first brought to the class teacher’s attention
where it can usually be resolved. If this is not the case then the details should be brought to the
headteacher. It is essential that you follow this guidance as any subsequent incidents will be reported
to governors.
Photographs/Video
We do have children in the school whose parents have not consented to their photograph being taken in
school. We must be mindful of this when we have whole school events like assemblies, concerts etc.
However, we do appreciate that parents naturally wish to have a record of such events. The school will
allow parents to take photographic images of their child during events at school for their personal use
only. Please consider the safety implications of using the material on social websites such as Facebook
or Instagram. To upload an image of a child other than your own would contravene the school Child
Protection Policy and infringe upon the Data Protection Act 1998.
We try to ensure that we have a school photographic record of such events which you can view on the
school VLE.
Visit from Miller’s Ark Farm
A farm came to visit the infants. There
were pigs and chickens and geese. A donkey
came with her son. We were able to touch
the animals and learn about them. We all
were very excited and it was really fun.

Year 2 trip to Frankie and Benny’s
Year 2 went to Frankie and Benny's to make pizzas. We learnt about the different types and food and
got to explore the kitchen. We had to add toppings to our pizza. We had lots of fun.

Harvest Thanksgiving Celebrations
A huge thank you for the contributions of food and donations for Cafod. The food collected was
distributed to needy neighbours and the Manna food bank organised by St Peter’s church. They were
very grateful and wanted me to pass on their thanks for your generosity.
The infant children were really pleased to welcome families to the school for their Harvest assembly.
They sang beautifully and I must congratulate Reception class who joined in really well with both singing
and dancing. There was a collection after the assembly for Cafod which raised £60.00. Thank you very
much.
Spelthorne Schools Football Tournament Tuesday 14 th October
The year 5/6 team did extremely well in the exciting tournament played on Tuesday evening. A total of
13 teams played in the competition and our team reached the semi-finals.
‘On Tuesday the football team went to a tournament and we came fourth overall! We won our first two
matches, one against Saxon school (5-0) and one against Spelthorne (2-0). We lost against Laleham in
the group stages and against Ashford in the semi-final. Our top assister was Georgie and the top goal
scorers were Christian and Georgie. It was great fun and we all enjoyed it as everyone played. It was
good for the team as we had never played with each other before. Also Alfie was the captain and he was
very loud and good. Thank-you to Miss Roberts, Mr Morgan and Mr Howick who all came to support us .
