Lifeguards are present at the West End Park and from 2nd Street East to 3rd Street West from May through Labor Day. SAND DUNES are protected and fragile. Stay off the dunes and use public walkovers at every block to access the beach. SURFING is not permitted from 2nd St East to 3rd St West (swim zone) between 10am to 6pm or within 200 feet of the fishing pier at any time. Surfing without an attached leash is prohibited. SEA TURTLES are endangered. From May 1st to September 30, no Parking No parking in the street. All 4 tires must be off the pavement. No parking within 20 ft of an intersection or 15 ft of a hydrant. No parking in a crosswalk or blocking a beach access. Park with the flow of traffic. Park parallel to the roadway. No parking on sidewalks or in front of driveways. No parking on dunes. No stopping or parking in road. No parking in handicapped spaces unless visible handicap permit. exterior lights are allowed on the front beach after 10pm because they disorient hatchling turtles. Fill in holes on the beach and do not leave tents, chairs, or litter on the beach as they block baby turtles from reaching the sea. MOTORIZED VEHICLES are not allowed on the beach. SKATEBOARDS are not allowed on Center Street or any sidewalk. In all other areas, they may not interfere with pedestrians or traffic. There is a skate park at 510 East Erie Street. NO OPEN FIRES OR FIREWORKS allowed at any time. NO CAMPING, sleeping on the beach, or in a vehicle. Golf Carts Cannot be driven at night Cannot drive down Center Street Must have a Folly Beach permit Must be driven by a licensed driver and have insurance Dogs Must be leashed at all times Are not allowed on the beach from 10am to 6pm from May 1st to September 30th Are not allowed at the end of East Ashley (lighthouse/old coast guard station) – it is a protected bird sanctuary Owners are responsible for cleaning up and properly disposing of dog waste. NO GLASS ON THE BEACH. NO LITTERING. Items left on the beach (tents, canopies, coolers, volleyball nets, umbrellas, beach chairs, etc, will be taken and disposed of by the City. Trash and recycling cans are at every beach access. Please recycle. TRASH is collected on Monday and Thursday. Bins must be pulled back up to the house after collection.
