Description: During this topic the children will have lots of chance to play in the different areas of their
classroom including the outdoor areas. They will learn playground games that they can use at playtime and
lunchtime. The topic will include a visit to the local park linked to the Percy the Park Keeper stories.
Hook: Parachute and outdoor games as well as a visit to Liphook Play Park.

We will be using stories with familiar
settings such as the Percy the Park
Keeper texts to look at storybook
characters and settings. During a non
-fiction unit we will use labels lists
and captions linked to our Science
and R.E.
Identify and name common trees
and plants including deciduous and
evergreen trees.
Naming the basic structure of
plants such as flowers and trees.
P.E. : We will be learning how to safely use the big apparatus in Gymnastics this half term.
ICT: This term we will be learning how to use the Beebot programmable toys.
ART/ DT: Drawing and painting skills linked to mapwork, making equipment for a play
park.
PDL: Working well together , classroom rules and co-operation. Discussing the Golden
Code.
PSHE/RE: Caring for our environment and discussing Special Places.
SMSC: We all have the right to a clean and safe environment and therefore we all need
to respect our environment.
Potential links to local, national, international communities: DT work links to the local play park
and when mapping the locality we will discuss local facilities and businesses.
Outcome: Making a playtime book and having a games morning with parents!
