International Students Games
Hi, we have decided we would like to run and sports day for International students and this
has been met with a very favourable response from schools. We think it will be a great way
of helping integrate these students and importantly from our focus getting them involved in
school sport.
We would like to start the games this year so have set a date in term 3 which is
Friday 18th August from 12.00pm -2.30pm at Stadium Southland.
In the future we will run this event in term one in March (A date will be set and sent out
with our Sports Calendar early in term 4) for 2018.Obviusly holding it in term one will help
with the integration of students at the start of the year.
There will be 4 sports on offer and students can select one. They will then be put into teams
at the stadium so will be mixed in with students from other schools. The sports will be
badminton, basketball futsal and volleyball. Depending on numbers we may get the
Development Officers to give some coaching and then put students into teams to then play
in a competition.
Students should bring their own lunch and a drink bottle. They should be appropriately
attired in sports gear with sports shoes.
We will have a prize giving at the end and get sports to name some players that stand out
due to things like fairplay, effort etc.
