Wynstone Golf Club was established in 1989 and is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature designed golf club in Illinois. Wynstone Golf Club boasts one of Chicago’s toughest tests of golf, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and luxurious home sites. The Caddie program at Wynstone Golf Club has been in place since 1989 and has had 9 Evans Scholarship winners in the past. The Clubs lifeblood is servicing our Members and their Guests. It is our duty to provide unparalleled levels of customer service to each and everyone we meet during our time at Wynstone Golf Club. As you can see the history of Wynstone Golf Club is rich. NEW CADDIE REQUIREMENTS ‐ Must be at least 14 years of age ‐ Attend (1) Caddie Orientation ‐ Attend a minimum of 3 of the 7 scheduled Training Sessions (barring cancellations) ‐ A one time required payment of $100 /covers uniform. CADDIE RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. 3. 4. When the Caddie round is completed the Member/Guest will complete a Caddie grading & payment card. Members/Guests/Caddies will turn in their graded cards to the caddie drop box. Each Caddie is required to complete their assignment, whether it is 9, 18, 27 or 36 holes. Whenever possible, less experienced caddies will be sent out with more experienced caddies. The purpose is to give aid or offer suggestions and there by improve the performance of the less experienced caddie. 3 5. You may not trade an assignment without permission from the Caddie Master/Golf Professional. All caddies will be required to purchase a Wynstone Golf Club Caddie uniform, which is to be worn while caddying. The cost is $100 and must be paid prior to working at Wynstone Golf Club. Uniforms will be distributed after all other requirements have been fulfilled. 6. 7. Cell Phones are permitted ONLY in the designated “Caddie Area.” Cell phones will not be allowed on the golf course during the stipulated Caddie round. 8. Please make sure to fill out and sign the attached “Caddie Registration Form.” Caddies under the age of 18 must have a parental signature as well. CONDUCT AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. 2. 3. Unless caddying, caddies are not allowed on the course. The clubhouse, locker rooms, and golf shop are also off limits to caddies at all times. Caddies must remain in the Caddie Area, which is located at the back of the cart barn. Destruction of equipment, defacing of club property and boisterous behavior will not be tolerated. Conduct must be of the highest standard. Absolutely no profanity! Always address a member by Mr. __________ or Mrs./Miss __________. “Yes Sir” or “No Sir” should be used when appropriate. Remember; never complain about your caddie assignment. 4. All caddies at Wynstone Golf Club are considered independent contractors and not Club employees. Any injuries that occur while on Wynstone Golf Club property are the responsibility of the caddie/family of the caddie. DRESS CODE 1. All Caddies will be required to wear there uniform at all times. All undergarments should not be visible under the official Caddie uniform. Uniforms and Caddies must look presentable and should arrive in the Club’s parking lot dressed in the “official” Caddie uniform. 4 RULES TO OBSERVE WHILE CADDYING 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Caddies are entirely responsible for the golf bag, balls, etc. of the player they are assigned. Count clubs before and after the round of play. Keep covers on “wood” clubs when not in use. Caddies are required to put the final clean on the members/guests clubs at the end of the round. Learn the different clubs and their uses. Stand at least eight feet away when the player is making a shot. Caddies will always stand (don’t sit) when players are hitting their tee shot and make sure to watch every ball that is played. Remember, when watching a ball in flight use a directional aid (“spot” e.g., bush, tree) to help you locate the ball. Stand still when a player is making a shot, and keep up or ahead of him/her at all times. The caddie of player whose ball is first on the green is responsible for the flag. Caddie should either give his bag to another caddie or place it on the side of the green closest to the next tee. Be careful when approaching the flagstick, do not walk across any players’ putting line. When tending to the flagstick remember to do the following: stand facing the player whose turn it is to play, and be aware that your shadow is not cast across the putting line. Note: Don’t leave the green until all players have putted out. Caddies are also responsible for making repairs to golf course caused by his/her player. Remember, to do the following: Replace all divots; rake over footprints in bunkers etc. Learn the course: What territory is out‐of‐bounds and be able to advise the unfamiliar player as to its hazards. Become acquainted with the various yardages. This is how caddies get promoted. CADDIE AWARD PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS POINTS ARE AWARDED FOR PERFORMANCE AS FOLLOWS: Outstanding 5 Points Excellent 4 Points Average 3 Points Below Average 2 Points Needs Improvement 1 Point 5 CADDIE DEFINITION(S) “B Caddie” First year Caddie, New to the Wynstone Golf Club Caddie Program while learning to develop skills to graduate to “A Caddie” ranking. “A Caddie” Caddie that has been previously employed at Wynstone Golf Club or another facility and understand the game of golf and responsibilities to Members and their Guests. “Honor Caddie” Veteran Caddies that provide leadership in the Caddie ranks. These Caddies are the “experts” and are required to lead by example. PROMOTIONS From “B” to “A” Required a minimum of 10 loops and 30 total points from Members/Guest rating system and needs to register to caddy at One (1) of the Clubs scheduled Monday Outings. From “A” to Honor Maintain Honor Required a minimum of 25 loops, five (5) “Outstanding” ratings and a total of 100 points from Member/Guest rating system and needs to register to caddy at One (1) of the Clubs scheduled Monday Outings. Required a minimum of 40 loops (double loops will count as two), Must average 160 points from the Member/Guest rating system and needs to register to caddy at Two (2) of the Clubs scheduled Monday Outings. Confronting a member or fighting with another caddie or employee – Termination. Improper Dress: If caddies are not wearing the caddie uniform that was provided, caddies will be asked to go home and will miss their scheduled loop. Violating Cell phone policy: 1st Occurrence – Verbal Warning 2nd Occurrence – Suspension (2 weeks) 3rd Occurrence – Termination 6. A member cannot personally reserve you for another day, but they can request you with the Caddie Master/Professional Staff. PLAYING Caddies are allowed to play on designated employee play Monday’s with a signed pass from the Caddie Master/Professional Staff. Play begins at 1:00pm and must be completed by dusk. Caddies are not able to bring a guest and are required to walk and carry ONLY!
