BREAKS
There will be two short breaks for morning tea and
lunch. There are cafes onsite, however the program
on the day is very tight so there may not be enough
time to buy something to eat.
TEACHERS
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
For the first time NYLD are offering teachers a PD
session with Jay Lucas, taking a fresh look at The
Treaty of Waitangi. After students are seated for the
session after morning tea, teachers will be invited to
come out for the PD session and will be returned to
the students before the lunch session starts. PD
session will be in the Bay Trust Forum.
WHAT TO BRING
A pen and something to write on. Students and
teachers/supervising adults will be supplied with a
notebook for the day. Please encourage students to
bring lunch and water.
QUESTION AND ANSWER TIME
After each talk there will be time for students to ask
the speaker a question.
• If a student has a question they need to put up
their hand – while they are waiting students should
think of another question in case someone asks
something similar
• One of our volunteers will bring your student to the
aisle
• They will need to say their name, school and
question
NYLD MERCHANDISE
The NYLD pin can be pinned to a tie or jacket. It
serves as a reminder to the students of their
participation and the responsibility they now have as
a student leader in their school. This is the same
pin that is given as a gift to all the speakers at the
event. The NYLD pin will be on sale on the day for
$5 at the help desk in the foyer. Or you can buy an
extra for a friend with our special of 2 for $8.
EMERGENCY/FIRST AID
All venues have a first aid kit on hand. Please signal
an usher / NYLD staff member if any assistance is
needed.
TEACHERS MORNING TEA
We will provide tea, coffee and a small food item for
teachers and other adults. Morning Tea will be in
the Bay Trust Forum.
PLEASE NOTE that clear instructions to the day will be given to students in the opening address from the host. It is therefore understood that
students will cooperate with instructions given, but it is the responsibility of accompanying staff/adults to ensure students abide by these. The
Parenting Place cannot be held responsible for property damage or any lost or stolen items, and managing students on the day.
* Experience in organising NYLD has shown us that it is often difficult for our speakers to predict future or last minute priorities. We attempt
to organise a team of people from varied backgrounds and different personal leadership experience.
