Ruby and Resilience

Ruby and Resilience
By Hannah

One day Ruby was going to school and she
couldn’t find her homework book. Ruby looked
everywhere, all through the house even in the
pantry, but Ruby wasn't the type of girl that just
gave up, she kept trying and because she kept
trying she found her book in the dog house!

At school Ruby's class was learning about
resilience and they all had to do something
resilient after school and present how you were
resilient. Ruby spent all lunch time thinking
about what she could do!

Ruby didn’t know what to do so her mum took
her to the park and she was getting very tired
and didn’t want to do anything except go home
but just then Meg her best friend came with
Lucy and Bella and there really wanted to play
with Ruby. Ruby tried to hide but it was no use,
she finally agreed to play and Ruby had the best
time ever!

Ruby had not done anything and it was time to
go to class. Her class was about to share when
the bell rang for lunch time. Ruby was relieved!
At play time Meg, Lucy, Ella, Liv, Charlotte,
Sadie and Ellana were all going to play soccer
and they wanted Ruby to play. Ruby has never
played soccer before. Ruby thought I am going
to try something new and Ruby had lots of fun!

Meg had lots of things to share with the class.
Now it was Ruby's go and just then her mum
came in and dropped off her lunch because she
forgot it and Ruby burst into tears and said’’ I
don’t know how to be resilient!’’ Her mum said
“You have been resilient lots of times!” “Like
when?’’ asked Ruby. “When you were at home
looking for your homework book you never
gave up!” explained her mother.


“When you were at the park you played when
you didn’t want to!” said her mother. Meg got up
and said “at lunch time you tried something new
and you now love soccer!”
At assembly Ruby won an award for being
resilient in all different ways. Ruby was so happy!
