2- DESCRIPTION OF THE UNITERRA INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR
For over 65 years, the International Seminar has offered Canadian students and young professionals a unique experience
to exchange and share knowledge across cultures. First initiated by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in 1948,
the Uniterra International Seminar coordinated by Uniterra, a WUSC and CECI program.
The Seminar’s objective is to connect youth across regions of the world to collaborate on a research project linked to
economic development with local organizations in Africa, Latin America or Asia. A group of Canadian youth and host
country students engage in meaningful collaborative projects in a selected development sector under the guidance of
Seminar Coordinators. Upon their return, Seminar participants share their experience on campuses and in their
communities through public outreach activities.
An Overview of Uniterra, CECI and WUSC
Uniterra is among the leading Canadian international development programs. Our volunteers guide, train and support
local partners with the goal of improving the socio-economic conditions for women and youth in Africa, Asia and the
Americas.
CECI and WUSC have been running the Uniterra program since 2004. The program is made possible thanks to a network
of partners in Canada and in our 14 countries of intervention. Each year, 600 volunteers contribute to making a positive,
sustainable change towards a more equitable world. For more information on Uniterra: www.uniterra.ca
