Expression of Interest
Applicants are to complete and send the Expression of Interest template to
[email protected] before 11 Nov 2016. The Expression of Interest template can be
downloaded here.
Aim
The MOE Academies Fund aims to:
 Fund development and research projects that will contribute to the enhancement of
pedagogical practices or the professional development of school teachers.
 Encourage the Academies and Language Centres as well as MOE Professional Wing
Divisions to identify key pedagogical and professional development approaches for
researchers to test, evaluate and propose areas for improvement.
Eligibility
The following are eligible to apply for MAF as Principal Investigators (PIs):
A. MOE officers from the Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST), English Language Institute
of Singapore (ELIS), Physical Education and Sports Teacher Academy (PESTA), Singapore
Teachers’ Academy for the aRts (STAR), the Malay Language Centre of Singapore (MLCS)
and the Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre (UPTLC).
B. MOE Officers from Curriculum Planning & Development Division 1 (CPDD 1), Curriculum
Planning & Development Division 2 (CPDD2), Curriculum Policy Office (CPO), Education
Services Division (ESD), Educational Technology Division (ETD), Student Development
Curriculum Division (SDCD), Schools Division (SD) and Corporate Research Office (CRO).
C. Academic staff from Singapore Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) who have sought
support for their work from MOE. Research Fellows (RFs) and Research Associates (RAs)
are not eligible to apply for MAF projects.

2a. PROJECT TEAM
A CV of each of the Project Team Members, outlining education, work experience, track records in managing research projects and relevant publications (maximum - 10) must
be included in the application package to be submitted (refer to the CV Template in the application package).
i. Details and Project Commitment



PIs of IHLs are required to have at least a doctoral degree (PhD) if they are applying for research grants.
The inclusion of a co-PI from the same institution as the PI is mandatory for all proposals so as to ensure continuity of the project should the PI be unable to continue.
PIs of IHLs are advised to include an officer from MOE as co-PI / collaborator to help the PI obtain support for the project through MOE.
PIs and co-PIs from NIE who have approved MOE Academies Fund projects are eligible for buy-out from teaching within their Academic Groups. Please note that each OER/NIE
project team member on research track is allowed no more than 35 hours of time committed to projects [on-going and all current application(s)/submission(s)] per week. Please use
the CV template provided to indicate the total number of hours committed to projects.

7. CASE FOR SUPPORT
For Tiers 1 and 2 Applicants:
Include a Case for Support of no more than 20 A4 typewritten pages - full-sized type font (not Arial
Narrow), font size 10-12, double-spaced, with a margin of at least 2 cm on all sides. There is a maximum
allowance of 4 additional pages for references, appendices and any tables or diagrams.
For Tier 3 Applicants:
Include a Case for Support of no more than 23 A4 typewritten pages, including a write-up that provides
details of the different phases of the proposed project. Descriptions of the aims, milestones and
deliverables for each phase should be included, along with clear and compelling justifications for the
requested budget in each of these phases. There is a maximum allowance of 4 pages including references,
appendices and any tables or diagrams.
The Case for Support Template can be found in the application package. If you have indicated that your
project is a “RESEARCH” project in (1d), please refer to Section A of the Case for Support Template for
