1. When and how I can participate in the online counselling for B.Tech. Admission 2011-2012?
a) Online Counselling procedure starts from 23rd May 2011.
b) Counselling Fees can be submitted from 23rd May to 13th June 2011.
c) To submit counselling fee (Rs. 3000/-) which is non-refundable, kindly visit
http://www.ptu.ac.in where you find a column of “Counselling Fee Payment” where you
can register to submitting the fees Or directly visit http://www.ptuaccounts.ac.in
d) Counselling fees submission is mandatory / compulsory to participate in the online
counselling procedure.
e) Counselling fee has to be deposited only once for all rounds of counselling.
2. What I should do if I am not able to register online for the fees submission and for online
choice filling?
If any applicant finds any problem while filling the registration form online for fee submission and
for choice filling then he/she can write an e-mail to [email protected] or can

3. How can I get the fee deposit slip?
Fees can be paid through debit/ credit card/ fees slip directly to the bank. The information
regarding the fee deposit slip is also available on the website of PTU. The fees deposit slip will be
generated when you register online for the fee submission. Registration details are available on
www.ptuaccounts.ac.in.

5. I was not able to deposit the counselling fees by 13th June 2011. Am I eligible to participate in
the counselling first round? If not then what I can do for the second round and third round
of counselling?



If any applicant fails to deposit the counselling fees Rs 3000/- before 13th June 2011 then
He / She will not able to participate for the first round of counselling.
But He / She can participate in the second round and last round of counselling if they
deposit the counselling fee Rs. 3000/- between 25th June 2011-29th June 2011.
If due to any reason a student still not able to submit the counselling fees then He / She is
not even eligible for the second round of counselling

But He/ She still has chances to participate in the last round of counselling for which He/
She has to deposit the fees of Rs. 3000/- between 8th July 2011 to 12th July 2011.

7. When counselling for reserve category (15% (Outside Punjab Quota), SC, BC etc.) including
Sikh Minority will be held?
The counselling for all the categories 85% (Punjab Resident Quota), 15% (Outside Punjab
Resident Quota) and other reserved categories will be done simultaneously as per the counselling
schedule. No separate counselling will be done for any category.
8. Is it mandatory to submit original documents at the time of admission?
NO, candidate need not to submit the original documents to the Institute in which he/ she gets the
admission, but a set of self attested photocopies should be submitted at the time of fess submission
to the respective college after the allotment of the seat. Students have to carry the original
documents for verification at the time of fees submission.
9. Can I apply for both 85 % (Punjab Resident Quota) and 15 % (Outside Punjab Quota)?
No, the candidates who will be considered under the 85% (Punjab Resident Quota) category will
not be considered under 15% (Outside Punjab Resident Quota). If any candidate applies for both
the categories during the online counselling, his / her candidature will not be acceptable.
Applicants considered under the 85% category are the following:
The eligibility criteria for 85% seats will be that the candidates should be a resident of Punjab
State in terms of Punjab Govt., Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (PP II
Branch) letter no. 1/3/95-3PP II/9619 dated 6th June 1996 and letter no. 1/3/95-3PP II / 81 dated
1st Jan 1999, or have passed 10+1 and 10+2 examination as a regular candidate from
recognized institution situated in Punjab. However applicants of Defence Personnel posted in
Punjab are exempted from this condition to the extent that they should have passed only
qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 from a recognized institution situated in Punjab. Each
candidate would be required to submit a certificate to this effect from the Principal / Head of
Institution last attended in the prescribed Performa (which is available in Information
Brochure).
10. I have secured a rank in AIEEE-2011 examination but unfortunately I have failed
(compartment case) in one /more examination at 10+2 level. Am I eligible to participate in
the online counselling of PTU for admissions 2011-12?
No, such candidates are not eligible for online counselling / admission in any affiliated institute of
PTU, GNDU Campus, GNDU regional Campuses, Punjabi University Campus, Punjabi University
Regional Campuses and PAU Campus.
11. How many choices should I fill as my preference during online counselling?
There is no limit. Candidate is advised to fill maximum choices in the order of preference.
12. How do I know about the result that which college and course is allotted to me?
Candidate can view the result on http://www.ptuadmissions.nic.in by entering his login id and
password. Result will be declared as per schedule.
13. Whether Rural seats of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) and Baba Banda
Singh Bahadur Engineering College (BBSBEC) will be filled through Online Counselling or
not?
Yes, the rural seats of both the colleges will be filled through Online Counselling. So students of
Rural Area category should fill their choices accordingly. Candidates must read the eligibility
criteria related to rural seats. For details guidelines on this matter Candidate must see the
Information Brochure (2011-2012) (Page No. 37 and 38).
14. I have filled my choices. How should I lock them or will system automatically lock them?
System will automatically lock them. However candidate should save choices while performing
choice filling.
15. Whether Institutes will remain open during Reporting period, if any holiday falls during that
period?
University has directed all its affiliated institutes to remain open / working (irrespective of any
Holidays) during the reporting period (when students after the declaration of the result of the
online counselling will report to the respective allotted institutes).
16. Is it mandatory to close the Internet Explorer after I logout from the website?
YES. Please follow the messages on the screen carefully. After every logout, you should close
Internet Explorer.
17. If I am allotted seat in GNDU Regional Campus Jalandhar or Gurdaspur, where should I
report for Admission?
For candidate getting seats in regional campus in GNDU, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur should report
to GNDU main campus Amritsar for admission.
18. On the basis of first counselling, I have taken admission in an institute and appearing in the
second round counselling. What will happen to my seat of first counselling, if I get a new seat
in second counselling?
In case you get a seat in the second round of online counselling, your seat of first round will
automatically be cancelled. So you must ensure that if you are allotted a seat in second round, you
take admission in that college, failing which you will lose both seats.
19. I have taken admission in an institution and submitted tuition fee etc. during first round of
counselling. In second round of counselling I again got a new seat. Whether I have to deposit
fee again in new college?
YES. You have to deposit an admission fee again in the new college irrespective of your fee
deposited in the first college. The previous institution must be contacted for the refund of fees paid
already.
20. I have registered myself. But when I try to login, system is not accepting my login id and
password. What should I do?
Please ensure that you have cleared previous history and cookies in your internet explorer. Also
ensure that Javascript is enabled in the system. Also ensure that you are filling Roll No., password
and security pin correctly.
21. In the 2nd round, what should I do, if any College is shown with Zero seats?
Even if you are shown Zero seats in the 2nd round, still you can fill the choice. So that you get a
chance to avail the seat, if anybody leave the seat.
22. I wish to apply for Rural Area category for Punjabi University & GNDU. What should I do?
Candidate must select Main Category as “General” and then he/she should select “Eligible for
Rural Area”. Under this column, please tick mark the boxes showing “Eligible for GNDU” &
Eligible for Punjabi University”. Candidate must also read the eligibility criteria available in
Information Brochure.
23. Is it mandatory to fill percentage of Marks, while filling registration form?
Yes, You must fill percentage of marks, failing which seats of GNDU and Punjab Agricultural
University will not be shown.
26 After first, second and third counselling, When can I surrender my seat?
During Counselling, you have to report to PTU for surrender of seat. After declaration of results for
third round of Online Counselling, you can surrender your seat within 7 Days in Institute in which
you have taken admission.
27 Is it Mandatory to fill maximum number of choices?
No, But if you fill maximum number of choices, you have a better chance of getting a seat.
28 How can I recover my password and username?
Detailed procedure is available on the website http://ptuadmissions.nic.in. You can refer to User
Manual available on the website.
29 If I do not report to concerned Institute in which I have been allotted then what will happen?
In this case that particular seat will automatically transferred to next round of counselling and you will
not having any right over that seat.
30. As per my AIEEE result card, I am not eligible for Central Counselling But i have a valid
AIEEE rank mentioned in my result card. Am i eligible for Counselling being conducted by
PTU?
Yes, Student having a valid AIEEE All India rank on his/her Result card, is eligible for Counselling
being conducted by PTU.
31.Who can register and perform choice filling for admission under Punjab 85% quota?
A candidate, who has Punjab residence certificate and has been alloted AIEEE All India Rank along
with basic eligibility conditions(+2/Diploma/certificate course from SLIET) can register and perform
choice filling for admission under Punjab 85% quota.
