Assistant Baseball Coach – Coaching Assistant – AY
California State University, Bakersfield, a NCAA Division I institution invites applications for an Assistant Men’s Baseball Coach,
academic year appointment. This is a non-tenured position.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The person selected will assist all facets of the baseball program including: instruction and coaching studentAthletes, practice planning, scheduling, travel arrangements, video coordination, fundraising and promotions, and assist and monitor
student-athletes’ academic progress. In addition, identify and recruit academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes,
establish and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, administrators, alumni and the public, and comply
with all rules and regulations of CSU Bakersfield, the WAC and the NCAA. And, provide leadership, supervision, and instruction in the
academic and athletic development of student - athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree is required, a minimum of three years of successful baseball coaching experience is required,
and NCAA Division I experience is preferred. A successful record of recruiting NCAA Division I student-athletes is preferred.
This position, along with all coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of our intercollegiate athletics program and for the
reputation of our University. Candidate must possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a
large variety of constituents.
BACKGROUND CHECK: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any
candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application

MANDATED REPORTER: The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and
Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of

SALARY: Dependent upon experience and qualifications.
