Social sports leagues held on campus in netball, basketball and football. Leagues are managed by Victoria Recreation and games are reffed/umpired. All leagues are open to males and females. Most leagues run for 9 playing weeks and pause for the Mid-Trimester break. ‘Mini Leagues’ run for 5 playing weeks and commence after the Mid-Trimester break. Netball is 7 a-side, Basketball is 5 a-side, Indoor Football is 5 a-side and Outdoor Football is 8 a-side. There are no limits on the number of subs you may use. In the Netball leagues, teams are allowed a maximum of 3 male players on court at one time. Simply complete the team registration form and bring it to reception at the Recreation Centre, along with your registration fee (see information sheet for details on registration fees). 4. Trimester 2 registrations open on Monday 17 July. Please note that entries are accepted on a first in, first served basis. Where possible, we split leagues into two divisions - ‘social’ and ‘socially competitive.’ The ‘social’ divisions aim to cater to newer, more relaxed teams. The ‘socially competitive’ divisions aim to cater to teams after a higher level of competition. NB. These divisions are entirely dependent on team entries/self-rankings. You need to rate your team on a scale of 1 – 10 and we will split teams into the two divisions based on these ratings. Social 1 Socially Competitive 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Yes you can. We link individual players together to form a ’composite team.’ A place is reserved in every league for a composite team. NB. Composite teams require minimum numbers to proceed so are dependent on registrations. Complete the composite player registration form and submit to the Recreation Centre reception. The League Manager will be in touch once registrations are in, to connect you with your new team-mates. Yes. We do not hold any spaces for teams/individuals who cannot pay when registering. League Manager: Josie Fitzsimons [email protected] or 463 5399 Teams must be available to play in any timeslot during the league they enter. Requests for specific playing times can be made at the time of registration and will be accommodated only where possible. Please note that it’s not always possible (particularly during finals rounds) and it’s expected teams can play in any time slot of the league they enter. 9. Games are played in 30 minute timeslots. Games run for approximately 26 minutes of playing time. We will keep your details and be in touch if any spaces become available. Draws and other league updates will be; Emailed directly to team captains Posted in the league-specific Facebook event (the URL for this will be sent to captains prior to the league beginning so make sure you get it from them) The draw for the first round will be distributed as soon as possible after registration. After the first round, the draws for the rest of pool play will be released. It is expected that teams are able to play every week and defaults should be avoided where at all possible – it is not fair on your opposition to miss out on their game. If your team does need to default, you must contact the League Manager with at least a day’s notice. No-shows will not be tolerated; any team who does not show up for their game without at least a day’s notice will be given one warning and repeat offenders will be removed from the league without a refund. Bibs are provided for all leagues, so you don't need to organise any uniforms. However, we do encourage teams to wear matching tops if you want to avoid the communal bibs.
