1. General
1.1. Laws of the Sport of Bowls
All matches shall be played in line with the Laws of the Sport Bowls (Crystal Mark 3rd Edition, January 2015).
The principles of the 2016 RNSWBA Conditions of Play may also be used to determine issues not specifically
covered under these Conditions of Play.
2. Divisions & Eligibility
2.1. Divisions
There will be Eight divisions







Men - Platinum (no player grading restriction)
Men – Gold (No player grading restriction)
Men – Silver (Players Graded 3 & below)
Men – Blue (Players Graded 5 & below)
Women - (No player grading restriction)
Mixed -Gold (No player grading restriction)
Mixed – Bronze (Players Graded# 3 & below)
Mixed divisions shall comprise 3 female / 3 male players.
Each gender must be represented in at least two disciplines –
Each gender must be represented in pairs and triples.
2.2. Eligibility
All Sides shall consist of players that are current registered bowlers and members of the club affiliated with
the relevant State Association.
Male players shall play with their declared club for the season (SEE RNSWBA COP 2.6)
Female players must be registered as a member of the club with which they play.
Players whose nominated Club is outside NSW are ineligible to play.
2.2.1.Eligibility to play in each division
2.2.1.1.
Silver Division: (Men Only)
To be eligible to play in Silver Division, a player must be graded in Grade 3 Pennants or below in the current
Bowling Season.
2.2.1.2.
Pink & Bronze Division
To be eligible to play in Pink or Bronze Division, a player must be graded# in Grade 3 Pennants or below in the
current Bowling Season.
2.2.1.3.
Blue Division (Men Only)
To be eligible to play in Blue Division, a player must be graded in Grade 5 Pennants or below in the current
Bowling Season
2.2.1.4.
Gold & Platinum Divisions
Open – no restrictions on grading of players who may be selected.
2.2.2.Post Sectional Play
To be eligible for post sectional play players must have played in sectional match(es), unless prior written
permission is obtained from the Controlling Body.
2.2.3.Player not graded in current season
A player who did not play in the current season shall have their eligibility to participate in silver or blue
divisions by their previous Pennant Season’s Grading.
2.2.4.Playing more than one Division
Players who play 2 matches in a division may not play in any other division without prior written permission
from the Controlling Body.
2.2.5.More than one side in a Division
Where a club has two sides in a division, players who have two matches in one side shall be ineligible to play
in the Club's other side in that division.
3. Match Regulations
3.1. Composition of Side
Each side shall comprise of six players.
Three games shall be played within each match:
One Singles game, One Pairs Game and one Triples Game.
Players shall be eligible to play as per Condition 2.2 in these Conditions of Play.
3.2. Duration of Matches
3.2.1.Singles
25 shots up (4 bowls per player)
3.2.2.Pairs
21 ends (3 bowls per player)
3.2.3.Triples
21 ends (2 bowls per player)
3.3. Practice
Players may practice up to 10 minutes before the scheduled commencement of trial ends.
Players should not practice on the rink on which their game is to play.
Two trial ends shall be permitted before the commencement of each game.
3.4. Respotting the jack
If a jack in motion passes completely outside the boundaries of the rink of play, comes to rest in any hollow in
the face of the bank or rebounds to a distance of less than 18 metres from the mat line, the end must not be
declared dead. Instead the jack must be placed with the nearest point of the jack to the mat line at a spot
which is 2m from ditch and on the centre line. (ie, at the 2 metre mark T)
3.5. Determining Results
3.5.1.Sectional Play
In each match of sectional play, points shall be awarded as follows
A total of six (6) points are available for each match
Two Points shall be awarded for each discipline
Discipline win = 2 points
Discipline Draw = 1 point
Discipline loss = 0 points
3.5.2.Determining Results of Sections
The winner of the section shall be determined as follows
(i.)
The side with the greatest number of points shall be the winner
(ii.)
If equal, the side with the greatest difference between total shots scored and total shots conceded
shall be the winner
(iii.)
If equal, the side with the lowest total shots conceded shall be the winner
3.5.3.Post Sectional (Knockout) Play
The side to win two or more games shall be the winner.
If a post sectional match finishes with 1 win each and 1 draw the drawn discpline shall play an extra end or
ends to determine a winner. (in accordance with Law)
4. Competition Format
4.1. Sectional Play
Sides shall be placed into sections (number of sides per section to be determined by number of entries
received). Where possible, sections shall comprise four sides - each side shall play each other side in their
section twice (home & away).
4.2. Post Sectional Play
Section Winners shall progress to Post-Sectional Play.
Post Sectional Play shall be based on regions. Winners from each region shall qualify for the State Finals
series.
5. Administrative
5.1. Submission of results
The designated Home side is responsible for ensuring that the results are transmitted to the Controlling Body
immediately after the completion of the match.
5.2.
Prize Money
Prize money shall be allocated to State Winners, State Runners Up and (where Semi Finals are played) Semi
Finalists.
Clubs may apply for financial assistance to attend State Finals under the Travel Assistance Grant (TAG).
5.3. Entry Fees
Platinum Division: $550 (including GST) per side. (Entry fees returned as prize-money in this division)
All other divisions: $100 (including GST) per side.
5.4. Green Fees
Green fees may be set, to a maximum of $6.60 (including GST), and kept by the Host Club
5.5. Attire
Players shall be attired according to the regulations of the RNSWBA or NSWWBA (as applicable)
5.6. Player/Manager
Each Side must have an appointed Manager who may be a player.
5.7. Umpires and Markers
The host club shall supply all required markers and accredited umpires.
5.8. Precedence
Sectional Matches of the Bowls NSW Club Challenge shall not have precedence over Association Events at
District level and above.
Regional and State Finals shall have precedence.
5.9. Playing Dates
(i.)
Matches shall be played on the date and at the time set by the Controlling Body.
(ii.)
Matches may be played prior to the date and time set, by mutual agreement between the competing
clubs, such agreement shall be notified to the Controlling Body. (Morning, afternoon, evening or night
games may be played (Artificial light may be used) Indoor Greens may be used
(iii.)
Clubs shall negotiate all sectional playing dates prior to the commencement of the competition.
5.10.
Forfeit
A club failing its commitment to play a match and forfeiting without adequate reason shall be subject to a
penalty of $350 for each side for each match forfeited.

Starting times shall by 9.00am (8.30am call of cards), 11.15am and 2.15pm
