Connecting devices

optional peripherals together with Stealthtouch-M5
Systems.
Provided that the step-by-step instruction is followed,
the installation process should be trouble free.

2.1 Installing Magnetic Card and/or Finger Print Reader

1. Tilt terminal, and pull the back
cover upwards to open.
2. Install the rear display to the unit,
secure with 6 screws [item #5] (arrows)

5. Tilt the unit and remove the I/O cover

2.21 Rear Display protocol
Unless specified, all the rear display/customer display shipped
from our facility is defaulted to AEDEX protocol.
2.22 Protocol/Emulation supported
Pioneer POS rear display/customer display supports a few different
protocols. The supported protocol are: General, UTC Standard,
UTC Enhanced, Epson and AEDEX/Emax.
2.23 Utility to reprogram the firmware
Should you need re-program the rear display firmware.
Run the ppos.exe utility.
Input 1 for COM1 or input 2 for COM2
Enter the number for the protocol that you wish to change to

On the next screen just press Enter when asked to input Data.
Input Yes to Write to EEPROM
2.3 Installing 3.5” Hard Drive or DVD/CD Drive.

4. Pull out the bracket in arrow direction
5. For hard drive, disconnect the cables
and remove the screws (circled).
6. For DVD/CD Drive, disconnect
cables and remove the screws (arrow
and circled).
7. Change the hard drive or DVD/CD
drive. Reverse Step 5 to Step 1 to
complete installation.

Chapter 3
Troubleshooting Guide
This chapter provides the guide to diagnose and troubleshoot system with
problems. Following each of the steps will help you determine which part of
the system is damaged and need to be replaced.
3.1 System Dead
Signs: System does not turn on at all (no boot beep sound)

Check if the right power adapter is used (P/N# STLH- PSFSP120).
Check if the AC/DC power adapter is plugged into the electric socket.
Make sure power cord is securely connected.
Unplug and re-connect cable as required.
Turn on the system again.
3.12 Hard drive Issue
Signs: System boots, shows POST screen, but does not load
Windows/no display on LCD
a. Wipe out the content on hard drive.
b. Re-install the operating system on hard drive.
3.2 Touch Screen Problem
Signs: Display is good, touch screen not responding/not following
finger
3.21 Touch screen not responding
a. Check if the touch driver is installed. Touch driver “TouchKit” should be
found under “StartProgram”.
b. If driver is not installed, install the driver from driver CD.
c. If driver is installed, open the TouckKit utility located on desktop or under
“StartProgram” menu.
d. Make sure the interface is pointing to COM5. Else, press on “Remove” button
to clear the wrong controller and “Add” button to add controller at COM5.

e. Click on “Calibration” to calibrate touch screen.
3.22 Touch screen not following finger
a. The touch screen would require calibration.
b. Open TouchKit utility icon on desktop or under “StartProgram” menu.
c. Click on “Calibration” button to calibrate.
3.3 USB Device Problem
Signs: USB device not detected, USB pen drive/mouse/keyboard not
working.
a. Check the connection of the device’s USB cable on system.
b. Make sure the cables are securely connected.
c. Unplug and re-connect the cables as required.

3.4 COM /LPT Port Problem
Signs: COM port/ LPT port not working
a. Check the connection of the device.
b. Make sure the device is connected to the appropriate port.
c. Check if the particular port is being used by other program.
3.5 PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Problem
Signs: PS/2 keyboard or mouse not working
a. Check the connection of the device.
b. Disconnect and reconnect the card reader located on the right of system
c. If there’s no card reader attached, turn off the system, open the cover on the
right of the system.
d. Check the jumpers setting on board.
e. If there’s no jumper/jumper in wrong location on board, insert jumper as
shown (short bottom 4 pins, leave top 2 pins open).
f. Test PS/2 keyboard or mouse again.
