Job Description of a League Team Captain
The main aim of a League Team Captain is to ensure the smooth running of her
team and the matches hosted at her Club
Details of her role at each match –
1) For each match she will pick her team and ensure they all know when and
where to attend. She will make sure that any new players are familiar
with the format of play. (See Rules of the League for details)
2) On the day she will meet with the opposing team captain to exchange
team sheets. There is no restriction as to the order or pairing of players.
It is totally at the choice of the Captain (& her players). She will ensure
that her players get to the first tee in good time for briefing on any local
rules by the starter.
3) She will ensure the catering requirement sheet is completed and returned
to the host organiser prior to going out to play.
4) She will be responsible for settling up the catering bill with the kitchen
staff prior to leaving the Club
5) If her team win the match then she is responsible for contacting the
Division Organiser a.s.a.p. with the result.
6) She is responsible for all communication with her players. Eg notification
of results and in case of adverse weather conditions affecting play (see
below).
When it is the turn of her own Club to host the matches she must 1) At beginning of year check her Club diary to ensure the 4 ball fixture is
included - notify the Division Organiser if not or if the date differs from
the one previously advised.
2) If there have been recent course closures or possibility of trolley
restrictions on the day of play then notify the Division Organiser so that
she can warn other team Captains (who in turn are responsible for
notifying their players)
3) Check the catering is available and get a selection of sandwiches and costs
Put together a signing sheet for this - one per team.
4) Arrange for one lady to act as starter on the first tee and one lady to greet
the visitors and to ensure the clubhouse arrangements run smoothly. No
need to stay for the actual lunch.
5) Notify visitors of access codes to clubhouse & on-course loo and keys for
handbags.
