Salad Rolls Reflection
1. This was unfortunately a lab that I had to miss but was able to get
photos from my group of how everything turned out. Just from watching
the demo this looked like a really fun lab to do as it is something that
you don’t make on a regular basis. Something that could have been a bit
challenging is rolling them together as it looked slightly difficult but other
than that this would have been a really fun lab to have done.
2. Something you could do to this recipe to make it even healthier is that
instead of wrapping them up with the rice paper you could use lettuce
and almost make it like a lettuce wrap. This recipe is already really
healthy as you aren’t deep frying anything which would add un-wanted
fats, and even the dipping sauce is quite healthy. Besides the high
amount of sugar in the hoisin sauce the peanut butter actually has some
good fats in it, so that is able to compensate for the hoisin sauce.
Something you could do to make this recipe a bit healthier is to switch
out the shrimp for salmon as this has lots of vitamins and is low in
cholesterol. These are all just little changes that can be effective but the
original recipe is still quite healthy.
3. Deep frying our food as everyone knows isn’t good for us, as it adds unhealthy fats to our food. By deep frying our food we submerge it in hot
oils and fats. If you are someone who eats deep fried foods on a regular
basis, you are actually damaging your body by clogging your arteries and
are slowly increasing your chances of strokes and may lead to
Alzheimer’s. Deep frying our food immediately makes it un-healthy as the
oils contain trans-fats. Frying food increases your fat and calorie intake
drastically, especially if you bread food before frying. There is no positive
outcome of deep frying foods as its well known to be an un-healthy
choice given all the fats and oils that are used when frying.
