Coaching Staff Applications
Applications are now being accepted for the 2017/18 season for the following Thunder Bay Fury teams:
Atom
Pee Wee
Bantam
Midget
(NOVICE will be after evaluations in Sept)
Interested candidates must apply by submitting the Coaching Application Package (attached), no
later
than May 17, 2017 via email to:

Applications late, incomplete, or not submitted to the above address, will not be considered. You must be a
member in good standing in order for your application to be accepted. You will receive an email response to
your submission which will notify you that your application has been received.

***NEW Beginning 2015-16 Season***:
Coaching certification requirements have changed for all OWHA hockey. COMPETITIVE COACHES PRE
2014: All coaches who have attended an Intermediate or Development 1 coaching clinic and have a coaching
# before Aug 1 2015, are deemed “Certified” and their status is valid until Aug 1, 2020. If the coach does not
complete the MED Competition Introduction and 20 Professional Development points by Aug 1 2020, they will
be required to retake the course.
COMPETITIVE COACHES 2015 onwards: Only the Head Coach is required to be “Certified” in Development 1
within the current season. The certification process includes the coaching clinic, completion of the workbook,
field evaluation of a practice, and completing the MED Competition - Introduction. Note: For these competitive
levels, it is also recommended that Assistant Coaches be Development 1 “Trained”.
If you do not have the appropriate certification prior to submitting your application, TBWHA will accept your
application as long as you are committed to completing the requirements. Certification is offered through
Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) at various times throughout the year. Please contact the TBWHA
President if you have any questions.

Board Selection Panel until the Queen`s tryouts are complete.***
2017/18 Coaching Application Package
A complete application must include the following requirements (please ensure all this information is
included in the email):
1. Head Coach Resume
 Provide a detailed outline of your prior coaching experience; including both educational/theory and
practical. Please provide the names of team(s) that you have coached or helped coach.
2. Head Coach Philosophy
 An outline of the principles that you would call upon to coach the team applied for. Include your
philosophy on player development and equal ice time.
3. Annual Plan
 Include proposed tournaments and other details of your plan for the season.
4. Budget (Proposed)
 An estimate of the projected costs associated with your proposed plan. Use the following
guidelines to produce your budget:
Revenues
Expenditures
Player fees
Corporate sponsorship
Fundraising
Tournaments: entry fees, motor coach expenses
Ice: ice, referees, timekeepers
Miscellaneous: year-end party, sponsor plaques
*** NOTE TBWHA Junior Board will allow 2 Fury teams in ANY division where there in an interest in
players to form another team and if there is a coach willing to coach the team****
