East Sussex Fire & Rescue
Service is a key member of the
Eastbourne Joint Action Group and is
committed to helping people stay
safe in their homes. One of the ways
this is achieved is by carrying out
Home Safety Visits.
These are offered to people who are
most at risk from fires in their homes.
Specially trained staff visit your home
and give out advice on how to reduce
the risk of having a fire. Vulnerable
members of the community may
even qualify for free smoke alarms,
supplied and fitted by ESFRS.

Speeding is a concern
for many communities
in both rural and
urban environments.
Community Speed
Watch (CSW) is a
locally driven initiative
where active members of the
community join together with the
support of the Police to monitor speeds
of vehicles using speed detection
devices.
Volunteers receive appropriate training,
and are supported by neighbourhood
policing team (NPT) staff. The scheme
aims to cater for
the problem of
real or perceived
speed related
offending, and
through
partnership with
the community
it is to be used
in circumstances
that are
necessary,
justifiable and
proportionate.
