2016 Atom Rep Tournament Rules
This is a regular season PCAHA sanctioned tournament, all games will be governed by PCAHA
playing rules and regulations with some exceptions as noted. All teams are required to bring both
their light and dark jerseys to all games. Home teams will wear their dark colored jerseys and the
away team will wear their light coloured jerseys. Team manager shall report to Tournament office
45 minutes prior to game time.
Tournament Game times:
ROUND ROBIN AND PLACEMENT GAMES (5TH PLACE AND 7TH PLACE), will have a three minute warm
up, followed by FIRST and SECOND periods of 15 min each with the THIRD period being half of the time
remaining left in the 1 hr 15 min time slot.
SEMI FINAL AND MEDAL GAMES will have a five minute warm up, followed by three x fifteen (15) minute
periods.
Each team is allowed one (1) 30 second time out per game.
Round Robin Points:
Teams will be awarded:
 2 points for a win
 1 point for a tie
Tie Breakers:
If teams are tied at the end of Round Robin play, the following tiebreakers will decide final positions.
(no overtime or shoot out)
1) Most points
2) Head to Head
3) Most wins
4) Goal differential (Goals for – Goals Against)
5) Least goals against (total ACTUAL Goals Against)
6) Most goals for (total ACTUAL Goals scored)
7) Least penalties minutes in round robin
8) Coin Toss
Mercy Rule:
In both A Pool and B Pool, if a six-goal differential occurs at any time during the game, the time clock will
be set to running time following the subsequent faceoff. Should the goal differential become less than six,
stop time will resume.
Playoffs:
For A Pool (PCAHA Flight 1 and Flight 2 teams)
Semi #1; Group A first place will play Group B second place
Semi #2; Group B first place will play Group A second place
Bronze; Loser Semi#1 will play Loser Semi#2
Gold; Winner Semi#1 will play Winner Semi#2
For B Pool (PCAHA Flight 3 and Flight 4 teams)
Semi #1; Group C first place will play Group D second place
Semi #2; Group D first place will play Group C second place
Bronze; Loser Semi#1 will play Loser Semi#2
Gold; Winner Semi#1 will play Winner Semi#2
Overtime and Shootout:
If a playoff game is tied after regulation, a 5 minute sudden death overtime period, of 4 on 4 (4 skaters
and 1 goalie) will decide the game, where the first team that scores will win the game.
If a penalty is called the teams will play 4 on 3.
If a second penalty is called the teams will play 4 on 2.
If no winner is decided during the overtime period, a 5 player shoot-out will decide the game. If still
tied after the 5 shooters, there will be a sudden death shoot-out. Players will shoot alternately at each
end until the game is decided. Each team must use every player on the bench before allowing the first
shooter to go again.
Coaches shall fill out and hand in their first 5 shooters list to the referee and scorekeeper prior to the
shootout. Additional shooters thereafter will be given to the referee and scorekeeper as required.
The team designated as visitor shall shoot first.
Protests:
Protest must be submitted in writing and presented to the Tournament office within 1 hour after the
end of the game.
A ruling will be made by the Tournament Committee as soon as reasonably possible and their decision is
final. Absolutely no appeals will be accepted.
It should be noted that a Referee's decision is based on judgment; therefore, it is final and may not be
protested except in accordance with HC, BC Hockey and PCAHA rules.
MVP awards:
After each Round Robin/ Semi Final/ Placement and Bronze Medal game a MVP medal will be awarded to a
player on each team.
The coach will choose a MVP for their own team. No player can be chosen twice prior to the finals.
Referees will hand out MVPs award to the chosen players.
For the Gold Medal game each team will be awarded a MVP, an Offensive Player, and Defensive Player of the
game.
The coach will choose the award recipient for their own team. No player can be chosen twice in the
Gold Medal game.
Referees will hand out award to the chosen players
