Persons wishing to participate in the Farmers Market must complete the following registration form and sign the
Rules and Regulations on the back side. Completed forms and a $45 registration fee for the entire season OR $10
a single session should be submitted to Mainstreet Shelbyville at 501 N. Harrison St, Shelbyville IN 46176 or to the
staff at the Market, which waives the need for a Peddlers Permit from the City of Shelbyville. Contact Brandy

PURPOSE: To provide community members and consumers an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown
vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy products directly from local producers and farmers. We strive to provide a friendly
community setting where consumers and farmers alike will enjoy gathering for both social and commercial
purposes.
2016 SHELBY COUNTY FARMERS MARKET
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Vendors may sell only during the designated market times. Times are Saturdays 8am-12p.m. and
Wednesdays 4pm-7p.m. Vendors may begin set up no earlier than one (1) hour before market time. Vendors
who set up outside of these hours will be asked to tear down and return during market hours.
***No early sales****** For the good of the market and the safety of consumers, early sales will not be
allowed. Vendors participating in early sales could be disqualified and asked to leave the market.
2. No driving is allowed through the market by vendors or customers during market hours.
3. The staff or Market Master working the market has the authority to assign spaces, settle disputes and disqualify
vendors for rule violations. A booth space consists of one parking space. Vendor parking spaces will be assigned
during peak business weeks on a first come, first serve basis at the Market Master’s discretion. If a dispute or
concern arises the Market Master has the final say and vendors will adhere to their decision or will be asked to
leave the market.

5. Vendors must sell only approved items. Approved items include:
Food Products:
 See attached Department of Health Regulations.
Non-food or produce items:




Seedlings and Plants grown by vendor.
Decorative gourds, pumpkins, and corn.
Flowers
Other items not grown by the vendor MUST be approved by the Farmers Market Committee. Items must be
handmade or repurposed by the vendor and cannot be items that a vendor is reselling. Common
manufactured items such as at a flea market are not allowed. Please submit a photo and description for
approval to the committee for approval prior to sale at the market.
6. Vendors participating in the SNAP or WIC benefit programs shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Violating such laws/regulations could result in removal from the Shelby County Farmers Market. The vendor is
solely responsible for the acceptance and redemption of said benefits.
7. Vendors are responsible for and shall fully comply with all applicable laws, regulations and ordinances pertaining
to their products and shall obtain all necessary permits prior to selling at the market.
8. Vendors are responsible for their displays, table and chairs, and any trash/waste that they produce.
9. Vendors are responsible for claims, injuries, and damages resulting from the sale of unsound or unsafe goods
and/or their participation in the market.
Notes: In the interest of providing consumers with a variety of locally grown products, some items grown or
processed by someone other than the vendor will be allowed at the discretion of the Market Committee. For details
