Job Title: Technician III (NYS Market) Department: Field Team Reports To: Technical Service and Support Manager Pay Scale: $25.01 $30.01 / hour Primary Purpose of Job The Technician III position is responsible for installing and directing the on‐site work of all stages of medium to large scale, complex electronic surveillance and security system projects in critical‐infrastructure/IT environments. Primary responsibilities include managing and working with on‐site installation teams for individual commercial projects ranging from $500,000 ‐ $2,000,000+ or several concurrent projects under $500,000. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ability to successfully lead a team through the installation of IP video surveillance, electronic access control, asset tracking, mass notification, communication and intercom, electronic locking hardware, low voltage/cabling/termination and network components to support all aspects of security technology. Interpret drawings and translate general work requirements into a prioritized daily work plan for the installation team and subcontractors. Performs service/installation of access control, intrusion alarm, closed circuit television systems, and other various security related systems without technical assistance. Perform all tasks required for installation for compete structured cabling system in a new or existing commercial environment. Perform advanced testing and troubleshooting of both copper and optical fiber installations. Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots systems and perform repairs as necessary. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns. Recognize, address and resolve issues related to project installation and technology challenges. Implement the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing security technology infrastructure. Serve as a single point of contact for project manager, site‐superintendent, subcontractors and vendors performing work in the field. Develop and maintain business relationships including attending customer progress meetings and site foremen meetings. Prepare and ensure team completion of daily progress reports, work schedules and time keeping initiatives. Qualifications and Skills Required NOTE: Technical testing required to qualify candidates for this positon. This is an advanced technical positon requiring a technical degree in electronics/engineering/networking or equivalent plus 5 years commercial electronic security, access control and low voltage system installation experience. Must be able to successfully complete an installation without technical assistance/supervision. Knowledge of electronics theories and principles including Ohm’s Law, circuitry and troubleshooting. Working knowledge of power distribution requirements as related to security hardware is required. Must exhibit initiative and a strong desire to achieve results. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Industry Certification Required for Direct Hire or Internal Transfer OSHA 30 Certification Current BICSI Technician Certification or NICET CompTIA A+ CompTIA NET+ Axis Certified Professional Genetec Security Center Omnicast and Synergis Technical Certification Nextiva Core Certification (requirement based on job needs) Working Hours and Travel Shift work, evenings, overnights and weekends are required as business needs dictate. Travel required – 30% nationwide including nights and weekends as required. Working Conditions This job operates at the corporate headquarters in a clerical office setting as well as within an operational warehouse. This is position includes field work job on active construction sites, airfields, transportation stations and extreme weather job sites as required. This would require the ability to lift, stretch, bend and stand as necessary. Position Type / Expected Work Hours This is a full‐time position. Evening and weekend work is required as job duties and business levels demand.
