THEME - YOUR CHOICE
Class 1
Making Music – An exhibit to include at least one musical instrument. Space allowed 90cms
wide x 60cms deep. Height optional. The Claire Louise Memorial Trophy will be presented to
the winner of this class
Class 2
A Touch of Romance - An exhibit. Space allowed 90cms wide x 60cms deep. Height
optional. The Brenda Scammell Bronze tazza will be awarded to the winner of this class.
Class 3
Totally Tropical - an exhibit. Space allowed 90cms wide x 60cms deep. Height optional.
The William Gamble crystal bowl will be awarded to the winner of this class.
Class 4
Ethereal Beauty – an exhibit. Space allowed 90cms wide x 60cms deep. Height optional.
The Lewis Cup will be awarded to the winner of this class.
Class 5
Split Level – an exhibit. Space allowed 90cms wide x 60cms deep.
Height optional. The Joy Davenport Memorial Cup will be presented to the winner of this
class.
Class 6
Flowers with porcelain – An exhibit. In honour of our link up with the National Dianthus
Society the exhibitor should include some dianthus in this class as well as using porcelain in
the design. The porcelain could be the container or an accessory.
Space allowed 90cms wide x 60cms deep. Height optional.
Class 7
Mosaic – A pavé design.
60 cms deep.
Class 8
Candlelight - A petite exhibit. Not to exceed 25cms in width, depth and height. This exhibit
may be completed at home prior to staging.
See “Rules” for NAFAS definition. Space allowed 60cms wide x
CRAFT CLASS
Class 9
A corsage to decorate a small handbag or clutch bag to be carried at a
summer wedding. Exhibitor may use fresh or dried/preserved plant material.
Bench space allowed 60cms wide x 60cms deep to display exhibit.
This exhibit may be completed at home prior to staging.
ADVANCED CRAFT CLASS – Sponsored by Neville Sharpe
Class 10
A hat or fascinator to be fashioned from natural plant material.
Exhibitor may use fresh or dried/preserved plant material which may be painted or glittered.
Bench space allowed 60cms wide x 60cms deep to display exhibit. This exhibit may be
completed at home prior to staging. A model head will be provided to each exhibitor prior to
the show on which to display the hat.

RULES AND INFORMATION FOR THE FLORAL ART SECTION
Judging will be undertaken by a fully accredited NAFAS Judge in accordance with the Competitor’s Manual
2nd Edition 2009 which is available from the National Secretary, NAFAS, Osborne house, 12 Devonshire
Square, London EC2M 4TE. A copy will be available in the Floral Art Section on staging day.
Exhibits may be staged on the Saturday of Show weekend from 9.00am to 9.00pm. (Please note earlier
start)
All exhibits to be competitor’s own work, arranged in the marquee without assistance with the
exception of Classes 8, 9 and 10 which may be prepared at home but must be the unaided work of the
exhibitor.
The judge’s decision is final.
Exhibitors are requested wherever possible not to use as accessories any article of value as the Derbyshire
Agricultural & Horticultural Society or its officers accept no responsibility for loss or damage however caused.
Prize money will be sent to exhibitors by cheque in the week following the show.
Exhibits not to be dismantled before 4.30pm on Show Day. Exhibitors cards, passes etc needed for Show
Day will be given to you on staging day.
Draping will be blue in colour as in 2014. A sample can be made available for new arrangers.
Closing date for entries will be 1st June 2015. Late entries accepted in exceptional circumstances.

The Brenda Scammell Memorial Rose Bowl presented by the Eagle Centre Market Traders will be awarded
to the Best Exhibit in the Show from Classes 1 – 8.
The Harold and Joy Davenport memorial tray will be awarded to the Runner up to the Best in Show from
Classes 1 – 8
The Brian and Carol Suter trophy will be presented to the exhibit which demonstrates the best use of colour.
The Ann Cup will be given to the exhibit which best retains its freshness at the time of prize giving (4.30pm
on Show Day)
Additional Note: Pavé
To those exhibitors not familiar with the pavé style of flower arranging – the NAFAS definition states
“Plant material and other components are placed close to the surface of floral foam or other mechanics and
grouped together in type”.
It is a basing technique that originates in jewellery making. The pavé effect is created by using various
groups of distinct short-stemmed materials to create a textured surface with little depth. Pavé creates the
appearance of gemstones set side by side into a base.
