Play Time: Adventure Calls in Duluth

Daylight Savings and the heat wave of March set the stage for a fun spring outdoors. I recently read about the Timber
Flyer zip line at Spirit Mountain’s new Adventure Park in Duluth, which opened last summer. It reminded me of the zip
line we set up at my cabin when I was 13. It took me and my cousins over a ravine and was our favorite activity for
several years! Not sure when we eventually took it down (my parents would probably say "safety"), but I have fond
memories of screaming and laughing as I clasped onto the handles and flew from one side to the other.
The Timber Flyer at Adventure Park is a much cooler version of the zip line I remember from my childhood. The 90second, 700-foot ride takes riders (single or double) down the mountain on a bench (safely bucked in). The ride
opened last summer. Watch this video to see it in action.
But that's not all. The exciting Timber Twister alpine roller coaster is another choice at Adventure Park. The Timber
Twister takes riders along a 3,200-foot track through the forest and down the mountain. Open year-round, the ride
takes six minutes and provides views of Lake Superior. For more excitement, there’s Adventure Park’s nine-hole mini
golf course. During winter, the new Snow Tubing Park is another destination. The tubing park has multiple lanes of
tubing fun. Chrissy wrote about the excitement of snow tubing in February.
There are plenty of places to stay near Spirit Mountain, which just closed its slopes for the season. And, of course, the
activities don't end at Adventure Park. You can head over to Lake Superior and downtown Duluth for more fun (like
touring Glensheen). Visit Duluth can help you find just the right thing to do or place to eat.
Timber Flyer & Timber Twister: $8 single, $12 double (some age/height restrictions apply). Mini Golf: $4. Snow
Tubing: $15 for two hours/per person, $3 per additional hour/per person (must sign release form, some age/height
restrictions).
