To assist your child to prepare for mainstream school in 2015, Irabina is
running a Getting Ready for School group in Term 3 and Term 4. The
program is specifically for children who will be attending a mainstream
school in 2015.
The group will be run on a Friday morning, and will be facilitated by two
specialist staff as well as an education assistant.
A fortnightly Parent Support Group will also be provided, facilitated by
Irabina’s Family Service Support team, with a focus on education and
support.
The group will work on the following necessary skills for a smooth transition to a
mainstream school environment:
Play skills
Pre-reading
Emotions
Emotional regulation
Winning / losing
Social skills
Playground games
Pre-writing / handwriting
