We play in and follow the rules for the Tri-County League. Mandatory practices are to be
determined by each coach, but generally start in February. Though there are other opportunities
for players to practice before then. Details will be made available to those players who have
registered.
All game nights are double headers, with a 65-minute time limit per game. Home games are
divided between Ellsworth Middle School and Hager City Brown’s Complex, with an option to play
at Summit Park if needed. Away games are usually within an hours drive. Teams will play 2-4
tournaments throughout the summer. One of which will be a home tournament at Brown’s
Complex in Hager City.
Teams 10 & under (10U) start games in early May. They play once per week for the month of May
and twice a week in June. Additionally they will have weekly practice.
Teams 12 & under (12U) play two games per week starting in early May. They additionally have 1
or 2 practices per week depending on overall team skill level.
Teams 14 & under (14U) play two games per week starting in Mid-May. They additionally have 1
or 2 practices per week depending on overall team skill level.
The cost to play either baseball or softball is $200.00 for the 1st child, and $150.00 for each
additional child. A $75.00 deposit is required with registration per child. Balance is due in
January at the mandatory parent/player meeting. (Scheduled for January 19th at 6:30pm at the
middle school cafeteria). Families are also REQUIRED to place a $50.00 deposit at the beginning of
the mandatory practices. Each family is asked to volunteer 10 hours (no matter the number of
children playing). There will be many opportunities for each family to fulfill the 10 hours. Once
your family commitment of 10 hours is complete you will receive your deposit back.
Players are required to have a personal batting helmet, glove, cleats, pants, socks, fielding mask,
and team jersey. On January 19th we will hold a mandatory parent/player meeting. At this time
we will be taking team orders for undershirts, jerseys, Ellsworth team apparel, and other required
equipment.
All players must complete a tryout. Sunday Oct 18th from 9:00-10:20 there will be a warm up
time to refresh skills. Hitting, infield and outfield stations will be offered to work through.
Tryouts begin at @ 10:30. We will be outside at the Middle School (unless inclement weather),
dress accordingly. We ask that players wear their jersey or another numbered shirt, if you do not
have one a numbered tag will be provided.
If a player cannot make the tryout due to prior commitments, efforts will be made to offer an
alternate date. However each traveling team will consist of 12-13 players. Once a team is full, it is
full unless we have enough for 2 teams. Make sure you are registered on time so your child is
guaranteed a tryout.
Coaches & Assistants. If you are interested in coaching or assisting on a team, you must fill out
the coach’s application. Filling out the application does not guarantee coaching positions. We are
looking for the right coach for each team. In situations of multiple applications for one team, the
board will decide the head coach. Plan to attend the EBSA meeting on Dec 2nd at 6:30pm, at the
middle school.
Registrations can be brought to tryouts or mailed to EBSA (post marked no later than Oct
14th), PO Box 442, Ellsworth WI 54011. The EBSA will work with anyone who needs financial
