Please review this information carefully as all units are accepted based on compliance with these rules, completion of the application, and on the basis of the unit’s quality and contribution to the parade. We have broken down the application process into 3 easy steps outlined below. Awards will be presented to outstanding participants at the Lakeland City Commission meeting in December. If a submitted application is not completed in FULL and/or is submitted late, it will NOT be considered for the parade. Media Form “Miracle on Main Street… Participant’s Mandatory Media Form Participant’s Mandatory Unit Description Script: It is mandatory that all participants provide a 30 second written script describing their entry in the 36th annual Lakeland Christmas Parade. Pro float entries must also provide a script. Submission Deadline: This must be submitted with your application Free 30 second commercial: The script that you write is your free 30 second commercial about your group, organization, or business to be announced to the entire Polk County viewing audience. The Parade will be rebroadcast throughout the month of December so be sure your script tells a good story! Key talking points for your FREE 30 second commercial: The co-host announcers will read as much of your script as time allows. Thus, your opening three to four sentences need to be clear and something the viewing audience would like to hear. Please include in the first four sentences: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Name of your organization/group/business; Name/theme of float or unit; What your organization/group/business does; General statement of who is on your float (e.g. the school’s accelerated readers); Then finish your script by including any other pertinent details. If you provide names of people, please also provide the phonetics spelling of their name as well (e.g. Pongpathed – pronounced: Pomp A Thed) so their names came be correctly announced. Examples of scripts: (1) Seven Swan’s a Swimming is the theme of Dr. N.E. Roberts Elementary float. Seven young, unusual, newly white feathered swans are learning to swim and play in a miniature Lake Morton, while people around the lake sit and watch. Of course, there is a swan lifeguard on duty to protect these unique swans. Dr. N.E. Roberts Elementary is located near the northwest edge of Lakeland. Charlene Richardson-Brinson is the school’s principal. The float is sponsored by the school PTA. (2) Here come more Dogs! Another parade favorite and mine too! This is the Imperial Polk Obedience Club. Handlers and their obedience trained dogs who are dressed as Santa’s helpers and his reindeer. They also have a dog house filled with pups and Christmas cheer. And, they also embraced tonight’s theme with a new twist to the 10th day of Christmas…. “10 Puppies Piping” Active in Polk County for 28 years. They teach people to train their dogs for all active competitions and just to be more pleasurable companions. Their dogs visit nursing homes and schools, compete in fly-ball, agility and obedience trails and also dancing. YOUR SCRIPT: Please type your script below:
