EMS Football Team Policy -- 2016 The EMS Football coaching staff welcomes you out for an exciting season of Cardinal Football. The following policies detail the manner in which players will conduct themselves as representatives of EMS and the Cardinal Football team. Please read these carefully. Please sign if you are able to follow these guidelines and return to Coach Minton. 1. Any athlete found to be drinking alcoholic beverages, chewing or smoking tobacco, or using illegal drugs will be in violation of the USD 491 Drug Policy and will be subject to the consequences set forth by EMS Administration and the Eudora Board of Education. 2. You are responsible for attending practice unless there is a medical emergency or prior arrangements have been made with Coach Minton. Notifications must be sent by email, phone call, or note before practice begins. Failure to do this is considered an unexcused absence. Three unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the team. 3. Conduct detrimental to yourself or the team will result in missed practice or playing time. This would include receiving detentions and/or receiving poor behavior/academic reports from teachers. You are a student-athlete, meaning your academics come first. 4. TEAM ELIGIBILITY POLICY (See page 2) 5. You must attend practice the day before and be in school the day of a game, in order to participate in the game, unless pre-approval has been made with Coach Minton. 6. Obey all bus rules. 7. You may only leave an away game with your parents, unless the AD or Principal has given prior written permission to ride with others. Parents must sign out with the assigned “sign out coach” before leaving the away game. 8. You are responsible for your own equipment. Please wash your practice and game uniforms at least once a week. I would recommend taking your practice uniforms home every Friday. 9. Players will earn playing time. Playing time will be determined by the athlete’s ability, intensity, attitude, commitment and attendance. The Head Coach will make the final judgment on playing time. If you have questions or concerns about playing time I want the athlete to ask your coaches about it first. If we need to schedule a meeting with your parents to discuss playing time we can. Read these rules carefully, and if you feel you can abide by them, we welcome you as a member of the Eudora Middle School Football Team. Take pride in what you do and you will succeed! Return the third page of this document to Coach Minton ASAP. The document needs to be signed by both you and your guardian(s).
