Teachers will send home a “word wall” (high frequency
word) list for each reading unit. They will also provide
families a list of the targeted reading skills for each
story.
Teachers will also send home a parent/student friendly
list of math and reading standards that must be met by
the end of 1st grade.
Teachers will participate in after-school student/parent
conferences, Acedemic Family Conferences, and
math/reading night.
Teachers/students will set math and reading goals each
9 weeks and monitor student progress. Notification of
progress will be sent home.
Parent/teacher communications, signed papers, and
homework will be sent home with the child in their
student homework folder each week.

District Goals:
1. McDowell County Schools will
increase the percentage of all students
in grades 3-11 who are proficient in
English language arts by 2% annually
and mathematics by
3% annually.
2. McDowell County Schools will
increase parental engagement
opportunities by 3% to strengthen
partnerships between home, school,
homeless shelters, and communities
as measured by My Learning Plan
parental involvement documentation for
the 2015-2016 school year.
3. McDowell County Schools will
improve school climate by promoting a
culture of high expectations for staff,
students and parents through positive
relationship building during the 20152016 school year as measured by
school culture parent
survey question 10b (2% increase),
improved attendance (2% increase)
and dropout rate (.5% decrease), and
fewer discipline reports (3% decrease
in out-of-school
suspensions).

The parents, staff and students of Iaeger
Elementary School have jointly developed
the School Parent Compact. Meetings
will be held each year to revise the
compact.

proficient in Reading Language Arts by
2% annually, and in Mathematics by
3% annually as measured by the West
Virginia General Summative
Assessment Results.
2. Iaeger Elementary will develop staff
activities that
promote collaboration and positive
climate as measured by
a 5% increase on question 14h & 14I
("have close professional relationships
with one another" and "support and
treat others with respect") on the WV
Culture and Climate Survey.
