(headquartered in Izumisano, Osaka, Japan, President and CEO Keiichi Ando) and Spring Airlines Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shanghai, China, Chairman of the Spring Group Wang Zhen Hua) have recently reached a final agreement on the use of Kansai International Airport as the first international hub airport of Spring Airlines. 1. Plan to establish a new hub in Kansai International Airport for operations of Spring Airlines Spring Airlines launched seven flights a week between Osaka (Kansai) and Shanghai from March 2014, and are currently operating 28 flights a week linking Kansai International Airport and six cities in China. In response to the said agreement, Spring Airlines will service another four routes linking Osaka (Kansai) to Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Quanzhou from this spring. In the coming five years to 2020, Spring Airlines will substantially expand its operation routes one after another up to 100 or more flights a week linking Kansai International Airport to 20 or more cities in China. *Currently, Spring Airlines are operating routes linking six cities in China, i.e., Shanghai, Chongqing, Wuhan, Qingdao, Tianjin, and Lanzhou to Kansai International Airport. *Planning of Airlines destinations as well as the number of destinations and service flights are subjected to the acquisition of approval of the government of the relevant country, respectively. 2. Relocation to Kansai International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) Spring Airlines are currently using Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 (T1) and scheduled to relocate to Terminal 2 (T2) during FY 2015 and further to relocate to Terminal 3 (T3, exclusively used for international flights) during FY 2016. With these relocations, we at New Kansai International Airport will smoothly advance the future substantial expansion of routes by Spring Airlines as well as work to reduce increasing congestion in T1 due to a recent increase in the number of flights by airlines and secure the capacity to receive such increased number of flights. *Specific relocation periods will be announced again.
