Spring Airlines agreed to use Kansai International Airport
as their first international hub airport
New Kansai International Airport Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Izumisano, Osaka, Japan, President and
CEO Keiichi Ando) and Spring Airlines Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shanghai, China, Chairman of the
Spring Group Wang Zhen Hua) have recently reached a final agreement on the use of Kansai
International Airport as the first international hub airport of Spring Airlines.
1. Plan to establish a new hub in Kansai International Airport for operations of Spring Airlines
Spring Airlines launched seven flights a week between Osaka (Kansai) and Shanghai from March
2014, and are currently operating 28 flights a week linking Kansai International Airport and six cities in
China. In response to the said agreement, Spring Airlines will service another four routes linking
Osaka (Kansai) to Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Quanzhou from this spring.
In the coming five years to 2020, Spring Airlines will substantially expand its operation routes one
after another up to 100 or more flights a week linking Kansai International Airport to 20 or more cities
in China.
*Currently, Spring Airlines are operating routes linking six cities in China, i.e., Shanghai, Chongqing, Wuhan, Qingdao, Tianjin, and Lanzhou to Kansai
International Airport.
*Planning of Airlines destinations as well as the number of destinations and service flights are subjected to the acquisition of approval of the
government of the relevant country, respectively.
2. Relocation to Kansai International Airport Terminal 2 (T2)
Spring Airlines are currently using Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 (T1) and scheduled to
relocate to Terminal 2 (T2) during FY 2015 and further to relocate to Terminal 3 (T3, exclusively used
for international flights) during FY 2016.
With these relocations, we at New Kansai International Airport will smoothly advance the future
substantial expansion of routes by Spring Airlines as well as work to reduce increasing congestion in
T1 due to a recent increase in the number of flights by airlines and secure the capacity to receive
such increased number of flights.
*Specific relocation periods will be announced again.
Keiichi Ando, President and CEO of New Kansai International Airport Co., Ltd., stated as follows:
“I am very delighted to hear that Spring Airlines has decided to use Kansai International Airport as their
hub airport in Japan. This makes Kansai International Airport the first airport where Spring Airlines
locates their hub base outside China and also Japan’s first hub airport of foreign LCC. Kansai
International Airport is currently servicing routes to 27 cities in China, which is already Japan’s largest
route network to China in terms of the number of airline destinations. In response to the decision of
Spring Airlines on their hub airport in Japan, we will continue to actively invite them to set up new routes
linking Kansai International Airport to China with the aim of establishing a route network to 50 or more
cities throughout China in 2020.”
Mr. Wang Zhen Hua, Chairman of the Spring Group, stated as follows:
“In Osaka (Kansai), there are abundant tourism resources and appealing culture. This shows great
promise for a further increase in the number of Chinese tourists visiting there. The “Spring Group” that
operates China’s only one private travel agency (Shanghai Spring International Travel Services, Ltd.)
and air transportation business (Spring Airlines) will continue to transmit charms of traveling to our
customers in China and Japan.”

Kansai International Airport awarded as No. 1 in the world in 2
categories
~ World Airport Awards 2015 by SKYTRAX World Airport Rating ~
"World Airport Awards 2015" (*2) is a world airport rating conducted over more than 550 airports
worldwide by SKYTRAX (*1), an English service research organization, and Kansai International
Airport was honored with the top award as "Best Low-Cost Terminal 2015" (*3), and "Best Baggage
Delivery 2015" (*4).

More on "Best Low-Cost Terminal" award
Terminal 2 Bldg. started its operation as the first LCC dedicated terminal in Japan in October,
2012, and is a facility which accomplished comfortableness, user-friendliness, and designability
trying out various means while driving down cost. It has received many favorable comments on
its user-friendliness specifically the short walking distance within the building, and the
traditional Japanese style design which is simple but yet modern. Another LCC dedicated
building Terminal 3 is planned to be constructed from 2015, and we will be serving better on
facility management for your greater satisfaction.

More on "Best Baggage Delivery" award
Kansai International Airport celebrated its 20th anniversary in September, 2014, and Lost
Baggage (missing of checked baggage) has never occurred in the airport since its opening.
Also, our large-scale baggage handling system which incorporates "in-line screening system"
(*5) has neither experienced major troubles since the opening of the airport.
We have received favorable feedbacks on shorter wait time before retrieving the baggage, and
the baggage being placed on the carousel in direction that is easier for passengers to grab the
handle, and we are much honored to receive the award that supports steady efforts among all
staff including technical, airlines, handling companies and many others.
In Kansai International Airport, all staffs are working together on a CS (customer satisfaction)
improvement project, "Smile Airport!” aiming to realize “an airport full of smile."
We are much encouraged by such high rating on our effort, and we will further commit ourselves to
serve you better.
