Thank you for booking an Aussie Kids Rock
Rock-it! Show performance!
Here is some information to aid in your preparation for our show and for
organisation on the day.
Note: in the event of booking one whole school performance please refer to 3-6(7) prep notes
Setup:
Access to performance venue is requested 1 hour before the show.
* please provide a table for stage area (approx. 2m x 1m)
Duration:
1 hour per show.
Seating:
Please allow children into the performance venue no earlier than 10
minutes before the show.
It is important children are seated in order of grade levels (youngest at
front) to ensure everyone can see.
Songs:
orange text = no set ‘actions’ for these songs, but get children familiar with them if
pos. Or feel free to ask children to make up their own actions!

Teacher Volunteer:
We ask for a teacher to help out with handing out prizes/choosing
volunteers. We will organize this before prior to the show but it will be
made to look impromptu on the day!
Here are some simple actions we use at the show that you may like to
include in your preparation for the day.

Aussie Kids Rock (theme song)
Chorus’s- Follow instructions from song lyrics: “Everyone jump up and down”,
“Everyone run on the spot” “everyone lets spin around”. Then, punch the air 3 times
with right hand for “FUN FUN FUN (never stops)”, then the same with the left hand for
the second “FUN FUN FUN (never stops)”. Then, punch the air 3 times with the right
hand for “AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE”
During Rusty’s guitar solo – Your best ‘air guitar’ moves!
Pig Sty Blues
Verses (except verse 2) – sway from side to side and click fingers to the beat!
Verse 2 – “fish in the sea”… Create your own actions… swim? Be a fish? Be a shark?
Do what you like underwater!

On each “Drip Drip Drop” lyric (three hand claps)
On each “Turn the tap all the way off” lyric (pretend you are turning the tap off!)
On each “Splish Splosh Splash” lyric (three hand claps)
“Let’s not fill the bath too full” (hold your nose and pretend to go under water)
“We could be saving water” (wiggle fingers and lower to the ground like raindrops)
Oscar the Octopus
Verses – improvise actions
OSCAR DANCE (ALL GRADES)
This is performed during the chorus of ‘Oscar the Octopus’.
Students are assembled in lines side by side.
Our friend Oscar the Octopus (8 beats) –
Take 4 steps forward and 4 steps back with both arms high in the air waving from
side to side
He’s all tentacles and suction cups (8 beats) –
Route yourself to the spot, crouch down and place a hand to the person to the left
and right of you (as if your hand are suction cups)
He does four things (4 beats) –
Walk 4 steps to the left (grapevine style) in a floppy, slightly uncontrolled manner.
At the same time (4 beats) –
Bounce 4 times to the right with feet together.
He’s got eight arms (4 beats) –
Place arms high in the air
And huge eyes (4 beats) –
Make hand goggles and place them over your eyes (Connect the tip of your thumb
to the tip of your pointer finger)
Our friend Oscar (4 beats) Turn and face your right
Our friend Oscar (4 beats) Turn and face your left
Our friend Oscar the Octopus (8 beats) Turn back to face the front moving your arms and legs like an octopus
