1. KENNET; MAKING PLACES FOR THE FUTURE
A district wide issues raising consultation will begin on the 5th of March to
try and gain views from a wide section of the community on how Kennet
should develop over the next twenty years.
Extensive background work has been undertaken on the local economy,
housing and sustainable development to identify important issues that
need to be taken into consideration when planning for the future
development of the district. This background work has been used to
prepare a series of issues papers on housing, environment, economy and
community development and a questionnaire
The issues papers are the first stage in the preparation of the core
strategy, one of the documents that will make up the local development
framework. Once finally adopted the core strategy will replace the current
local plan. The issues raised at this stage will be used to inform the next
stage in preparing the core strategy which will be producing spatial
options for the district.
Many members will have the issues papers and questionnaire via their
local strategic partnership or community forum. For those members who
have not yet received them a pack containing the issues papers and
questionnaire will be circulated by 5th March.
If members have any comments on the issues papers please send them
to the Forward Planning Team before Monday 16 April. Additional paper
copies of the issues papers and questionnaire are available from the
Forward Planning and Transportation team on 01380 734872. The issues
papers and questionnaire are also available to view and complete on-line
(www.kennet.gov.uk).
