APRIL 2015 LAKEVIEW NEWSLETTER
IMPORTANT DATES:
From the Director: We are
all so excited to be
looking the month of April
in the face, let’s hope
it gets warm soon! It has
been a long, cold winter
and I don’t think anyone
is more excited to see the
weather change than our
kiddo’s here at Lakeview!! With that in
mind please check your child’s cubby and
make sure that they have a change of
clothing as mud is inevitable in the early
spring! We have had a recent explosion of
new enrollments and I would like to take
this time to welcome Miss Amanda Shea as
our new Lead Nursery teacher! Miss Amanda
has a master’s degree in education and
lives here in Lakeview with her husband
and three beautiful kids, Braeden, Kaylee
and Madalyn! In addition, our newest
teacher aide is Miss Katie and she will be
helping out a little bit in all the rooms!
The kids really love her! I hope that you
all have a wonderful month!

we will be having tons of art fun making springy
crafts! This month we will be welcoming some new
tiny friends! We are really looking forward to
getting to know Tate, Harris, Jackson and Hailey!!
We will be sad to see our friends Ryan, Sebastian
and Matthew make the move to Waddlers- we will
surely miss them!! As always, please let me know if

Waddlers:
Well, it took us a little bit of time but we
finally have a very full, up and running Waddler room!
This room accommodates children 12 months to 2 years
of age and it is a very busy one this month! We would
like to welcome our newest friends Sebastian, Ryan and
Matthew to our class! We are looking forward to
spending the next year together learning and playing!
This month we will be talking about opposites. We will
explore this theme with hard/soft, up/down,
rough/smooth and big/little. Now that the weather
seems to have broken we will be spending more time
outdoors. Please make sure that your child has a
complete change of weather appropriate clothing in
his/her cubby. I wish you all a wonderful April!!

Toddler: Our toddler room will be taking a trip
‘Under the Sea’ this month! We have a ton of fun
activities planned and look forward to a very
adventurous April! We will be replacing the sand in
our exploratory table with water. We will add
different sea life replica’s each day, add bubbles to it
and even change the waters’ color each Friday. Our
book this month will be ‘Rainbow Fish’ which is a
lovely book about sharing and being kind to our
friends. We will make wave bottles in art and even
using a pretend fishing pole! Toward the end of the
month we will learn about whales, dolphins, octopus,
sharks and other unique sea life. On another topic,
we will be able to get outside more this month, so just
be sure to double check your child’s cubby for
appropriate outdoor attire- including boots. Have a
super month!

Preschool - We are all so thankful that spring has
finally arrived, kids and teachers alike! Talk about cabin
fever! This month we will get a little crazy with our
theme ‘Animal House’! Week 1 we will be learning all
about baby animals. Our book will be ‘Are You my
Mother’ and we will learn the song ‘One Little Duck that
I Once Knew’! We will match mama’s to their babies,
make our own animal ears, put together animal puzzles
and play bear counters. In drama we will become
veterinarians and use our medical kits to fix sick stuffed
animals. Week 2 is all about bunnies! Our book will be
‘The Story of Peter Rabbit’ and we will be doing the
bunny hop dance at circle time. Week 3 will be
dedicated to the animals we find in the zoo. We will be
reading ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ and ‘Put Me in the
Zoo’. We will snack on animal crackers, move like the
zoo animals and make zoo animal masks. Finally, week 4
will be fun as we learn about farm animals. The kids
always love this week. We will be reading ‘Robert the
Rose Horse’ and ‘Mr. Brown can Moo’. We will talk
about milk and where it comes from and even play animal
charades! All month long we will be focusing on our
changing weather with an emphasis on rain, wind and
sun. Hope you all have a great month!
