HEAD OF CLUB COACHING
The Role
Worcester Hockey Club is one of the leading clubs in the West Midlands with membership of over
400 active players of all ages, and is seeking to appoint a new Head of Club Coaching for the 20142015 season and beyond, with responsibility for all aspects of coaching through the club.
This position is a paid role and remuneration will be based on experience and coaching ability. All
applicants should have a minimum level 3 coaching certification and have had a minimum of 5 years
coaching experience at levels commensurate with the role advertised.
This role has been identified in order to develop a more structured coaching model across the whole
club. The incumbent will have direct responsibility for building that structure, developing coaching
skills amongst new and existing coaches. The role will also include training of either the Women’s or
Men’s Elite Squad coach with responsibility for preparation, selection of players, team tactics and
match days for the 1st Team of that section. The decision of which squad that is will be discussed
with each person shortlisted for interview.
Our Club
Worcester Hockey Club, a very progressive club with a proud history, is seeking to build on the large
number of players and teams which represent the club each week. The club puts out 8 Men’s teams,
5 Women’s teams and 2 Badgers teams every Saturday. The Junior section has a membership of 250
and has a track record of success in various competitions. Junior players are regularly selected for
JAC, JDC and JRPC training. The club promotes young players through to 1st team and is dedicated to
developing players of all abilities to reach new levels of performance.
The Men’s 1st XI play in the Midlands 1 league and have been placed 3rd in 3 of the last 4 seasons,
narrowly missing out on promotion on those occasions. The club focus is on regaining promotion to
the Midlands Premier league and remaining in that league in a stable position before pushing on and
reaching the next level.
The Women’s 1st XI were promoted to the National League in 2010 but sadly could not sustain this
achievement. They were relegated at the conclusion of season 2011-2012 and again the following
year. This team has struggled since and a major priority for the Club is the rebuilding of Womens
section, and to support the 1st XI in regaining the status achieved some years ago.
The club is ambitious and is well run. In the near future the club hopes to establish a new home and
alongside the new coaching role, other new roles are being considered to ensure the foundations for
