LORD DERAMORE (BATTLE OF BRITAIN) GOLF COMPETITION – 14 SEPTEMBER 2012
I would like to extend an invitation to participate in this years’ Lord Deramore Battle of Britain Golf
Competition on Friday 14 September 2012. The cost will be a minimum donation of £25 per person,
(£10 for Fulford members) which includes prizes with all proceeds going to York Branch and Welfare of
RAF Association charities. A raffle will also be run on the day.
This event has now been going for over 50 years and is still as popular as ever. Historically the event
has been competed for by RAF Units around the UK as well as RAFA and the host clubs of
Easingwold and Fulford. The event this year will take place at Fulford Golf Club and takes the form of
a 4 person team stableford. Teams will be mixed for the tee offs and played as 3 balls wherever
possible. Maximum playing handicap is 24 for all competitors.
Starting times are available from approx 0800 to 1500 and every attempt will be made to allocate times
as close as possible to those requested. Priority will be given to those travelling furthest with the early
times being given to local entrants.
It is expected that the presentation will take place at approximately 2000 and if your team or one of its
members is in the running then you should make arrangements for someone to be present at the prize
giving.
You may enter as many teams as you like but places will be allocated on a first come first served basis
on receipt of a cheque for the full amount made payable to ‘Service Funds RAF Linton on Ouse’. This
must be received by 7 September 2012. Tee times will then be allocated and promulgated so do
include contact details with your entrance fee. An email address would greatly help this process.
I look forward to your response and wish you all the best for what I am sure will be an excellent day in
aid of an extremely worthy charity.

THE DERAMORE BATTLE OF BRITAIN GOLF TOURNAMENT
COMPETITION RULES
1.
The tournament is a Stableford Competition played to R&A Rules. The handicap limit is
24 (official) awarded by a Golf Club or reputable Society.
2.
Prizes will be awarded to the player with the highest points score and the first 2 in each of
the 3 divisions. In the event of a tie, winners will be determined on a count back based
on the back 9 etc. Team Prizes will be awarded. A count back for team prizes will be
based on the total of all 4 players on the back 9 etc. Prizewinners are requested to be at
the Presentation Ceremony.
3.
Starting times will be sent to all Clubs, Stations and Associations taking part and will also
be displayed at Fulford and Easingwold golf clubs. Competitors remain responsible for
determining their own start time.
4.
Players must be on the Tee not later than 7 minutes before their scheduled Tee time.
5.
Slow play must be avoided at all times. Penalties may be incurred to consistent offenders.
6.
The player must record his gross strokes at that hole and the points scored taking into
account the strokes received. If a player has played the number of shots that preclude
him from scoring on that hole, then he should not continue playing that hole, unless to do
so would preclude the submission of a competitive 'lowest gross score'. Only official
issued cards will be accepted and must be signed by the marker and the player.
7.
Normal Rules of Golf apply and in the event of a dispute, the decision of the
tournament committee is final.
