STB Football Team plays in Super Bowl at Gillette!!!
On Saturday, December 5th Bernardians of all ages made the trip down to Foxboro to cheer on the Blue and
Gold as they once again returned to the very top of High School football. The last Blue and Gold team to
achieve a Super Bowl appearance was the 1997 Super Bowl Championship Team. This year’s team however
is the first to ever take the field at Gillette Stadium. The stands were filled with alumni including several sporting vintage STB varsity football team jackets. The experience was second to none. Head Coach Tom Bingham
(a member of the 1997 Team Coaching Staff), his staff, Athletic Director Jim Beauregard, Principal Robert
Blanchard and seniors on the team were treated to breakfast at Gillette during the week prior to the game
where they met former Patriot player Andre Tippett and received a tour of the world class facility. Although
suffering a heartbreaking loss to Mashpee in the title game, the team had an outstanding season. To the credit
of their coaches and the five exceptional senior leaders Cooper Bigelow, Zachary Bingham, Sean Laflamme,
Zachary Merchant and Aaron Robichaud, the football program was turned around from a 1-9 season in 2012
when these seniors were freshman to a team that got the thrill of a lifetime as they competed on the same field
as the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.
Special congratulations go to Cooper Bigelow who is one of the area’s leading quarterbacks. Voted by the
Central Mass. Football Coaches Association as the Division VI Offensive MVP, he rushed for 952 yards resulting in eleven touchdowns, and completed seventy-one of 120 passes leading to fourteen touchdowns. He
also was named to the Central Mass. All Star Team. Cooper joins Frank Novak (STB ‘00) QB of the 1997
Super Bowl team in a long line of STB gridiron QB standouts! Congratulations to the entire STB football family for their commitment to their sport and for representing STB with class. You have made us proud!

Class of 2005
Many Bernardians reunited this past fall including the Class of 1965, 1980 and 2005. The Class of 1965
celebrated 50 years over Columbus Day weekend. Festivities started Friday night with an informal gathering
at Donnelly’s Tavern, continued the next day with tours of the school, a Mass in the school’s newly renovated
Chapel and a buffet dinner in the school’s cafeteria. The weekend concluded with a Sunday morning breakfast at Slattery’s Restaurant. The Class offered a gift to the school in the form of a scholarship in class favorite Sister Joan Mulcahy’s name. The Class of 1980 celebrated their 35th reunion also at Slattery’s on Friday,
November 27th. Over 100 classmates gathered to reminisce and enjoy a buffet dinner. The Class raised
$5000 to give back to the school thru donations and raffles. Finally, the Class of 2005 celebrated their 10th
reunion . Several classmates gathered at Apple Hill Farm and Country Club also on November 27th.
