Job Description Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (WW044) Reports to: Contracts Manager Team: Wastewater Network Location: Nelson (CF46 6LY) Salary Band: 7 (£34,357 – £39,510) As a credible member of the Team you will: Assist the implementation and continuous improvement of the Waste water network contracts. Be an essential team member to ensure that contracts are delivered within the statutory, regulatory and financial outputs of the DCWW Business Plan while demonstrating value for money and complying with all relevant DCWW governance processes at all times. As a Quantity Surveyor you will: Assist the implementation and continuous improvement of the Waste water contracts, supporting the Contractors Manager to deliver ‘Customer Led Success’ to bed in these principles with our supply chain To Earn The Trust of Customers in Everything We Do’ Provide advice and support to area operational teams on all commercial aspects of the framework. Identify and implement best practice. Ensure that the appropriate processes are maintained to provide detailed and effective financial information on the delivery of the contracts. Principal Accountabilities Evaluate task payments, challenge costs and raise/resolve queries. Raising Payment Certificates in accordance with contract. Tracking assessment dates, review period and payment date to meet contract obligations. Ensure contractors tasks are technically complete (TECO) on DCWW SAP system Ensure cost settlement is posted to the correct cost centre. Monitor volumes of activity and report on volumes against forecasts. Use of IT systems to accurately record and monitor contract information Provide financial detail to ensure monthly accruals are accurately captured Assist in the evaluation and administration of compensation events. Site visits as and when required to verify measurement of work completed Assist in recording and monitoring of contract performance against key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) Attend monthly performance meetings with Service Manager and service providers. Confident in presenting accurate data at monthly management meetings. Deputise and flexibility is required of the individual in order to provide cover for Waste Water Service Manager for holidays, absence or as business needs dictate. Develop monthly reporting summary on cost by contract area split to Private Sewer Transfer and Public sewers. Develop a culture of best practice through internal benchmarking. Experience, Qualifications and Skills A degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering would be an advantage but is not essential as development would be provided to the right candidate. Experience of working with NEC contracts Ideally you will have experience in Wastewater Network contracts Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage but not essential as training can be provided. Good communication skills and comfortable reporting to Waste Water Network Management Team as required. Ability to analyse, interpret and present financial information to ensure appropriate business decisions are taken. Ability to interpret and apply statutory and regulatory standards to achieve best business outcome.
