Expectations
• We have high expectations of your
children and we hope that you do too and
will support them in their learning
whenever possible.
• Children are most successful when
supported by parents as well as the
school.
• We expect the children to behave well
with good manners and courtesy and
respect for everyone.
Expectations (continued)
• To follow agreed Class Charters
• To be responsible and organised
• To read to an adult at least 5 days a week for fifteen
minutes each time. Parents to put signature in
reading logs each time.
• To learn spellings
• To learn all times tables up to x12
• To bring in reading records every day, homework
every Friday.
Start Of The Day
• Register is taken at 8.50 and Assembly starts
at 8.55am so children need to be in on time
so as not to miss assembly or be marked
absent.
• After this time the gates are closed and
children need to sign in at the office.
• Please ensure you child is at school on time
so that they make the most of the school day.
End Of The Day
• School finishes at 3.30.
• Parents from 4 Magnolia (Mrs Payne) to collect
their children from class.
• Parents from 4 Sycamore (Mr Zarka) and 4 Beech
(Miss Hirani) are to collect children from the side
gate outside the mobile classrooms. Parents don’t
need to enter the school grounds as teachers will
take students to the gates from 3.25.
• Please do not take your child until an adult from
their class has been told.
School Uniform
• Grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress
• White polo shirt with the school emblem, red tie.
• Red school sweat shirt or cardigan
• Black shoes
• White socks or red/grey tights.
• Long hair should be tied back and no jewellery
• Please make sure the items of clothing are labelled with your
child’s name as one red jumper looks much like another.
• The weather is unpredictable and children do have to go out side
at playtime so please send them with a coat.
P.E.
• Year 4 have P.E. on Tuesday afternoons at offsite at Cedars Community Centre and swimming
on Friday afternoons at the Harrow Leisure
Centre.
• On School P.E. days (Tuesday’s), children need
to wear the correct Weald Rise P.E. kit: black
shorts, white t-shirt, plimsolls or trainers.
• On Swimming Days (Friday’s), children need to
bring in their swimming costume, a towel,
swimming cap and £1 coin for use of locker.
Home learning
• Home learning will be given out on Friday
• It is then due back on the following Wednesday
• It will generally consist of one piece of English or topic
based work.
• Separate Numeracy homework will be given for Maths
on Friday’s and due back the following Wednesday, as
well.
• Home learning tasks will be explained in class and
details given to the children to complete.
• Spellings and Times tables tests weekly.
Spellings
 Spellings will be given out every week on
Friday as part of home learning
 There will up to 15 words to learn each
week
 Spellings will be tested on Friday’s
Reading Records
• Each pupil has a reading record
• This is to encourage reading at home
• Pupils can choose their own reading book either
from home, class library, school library or the local
library .
• We have a large selection of books which children
are able to borrow from each class and they will visit
the School Library once a week
• Pupils should hand in their reading record to be
checked by their teacher every day
