Mission Statement
At Mossy Lea, we create a happy, caring and secure environment, where we value our children and encourage each individual to
strive for the highest standards of achievement. We ensure that our young people go into the world as independent, responsible
citizens with a love for learning.
The School will:
1. Work with your child(ren) so they reach the highest possible standards in the basic skills of
Literacy and Numeracy
2. Care for your child(ren)’s safety and happiness by encouraging high standards of behaviour and
your child’s independence
3. Provide a broad and balanced curriculum to meet the needs of your child
4. Keep parents informed about school events, enabling you to become involved in the life of the
school
5. Provide regular information about your child’s progress
6. Offer Road Safety Education as a programme integrated within the curriculum
The Parents will work with school by:
1. Giving due importance to homework, assisted learning of spellings and tables (number bonds for
younger children) each week. Shared reading each week night with children in Years Reception to
Y2 and encouraging older children to read each week night
2. Providing support for the discipline within the school and for the teacher’s role.
3. Ensuring your child(ren) attend school regularly and punctually in good health and with enough sleep.
4. Ensuring that school is aware of any concerns or problems that might effect your child(ren)’s work
or general well-being
5. Ensuring that reply slips and money is sent into school on time
6. Attending parents’ evenings in order to discuss your child’s progress
7. Making sure your child(ren) get in and out of vehicles in appropriate place and comply with parking
restrictions (such as zig zag lines)

Work quietly and sensibly and do as I am told when asked
Be polite and helpful to everyone in the school
Keep my hands and feet to myself and do not tease, bully or call others names
Behave sensibly when near the road
Always choose to “DO THE RIGHT THING”
