Type-II/III
Type-I
(𝒋)
οƒ˜ Tri-unstable cellular automata(CA) model is
developed to study the dynamics of H-mode
pedestal, ELMs, and their control.
οƒ˜ CA model reproduce H-mode pedestals with
various types of ELMs.
οƒ˜ SMBI
οƒ˜ SMBI increases the pedestal transport
by inducing frequent small scale
transport avalanches, which prevent
the pedestal from building-up to
profiles to trigger global peelingballooning instabilities.
οƒ˜ Global type-I ELMs are replaced by
smaller type-II or type-III ELMs.
οƒ˜ Shallower injections are better for the
ELM mitigation.
οƒ˜ Pellet Injection
οƒ˜ Pellet injection can force to trigger
large scale ELMs and discharge of
overall pedestal pressure, and thus
lead to pellet pacing of ELMs.
οƒ˜ Deeper injections are better for the
pellet pacing.
