Council Representation
and Structure
Introduction
Golden Plains Shire Council consists of seven elected councillors representing an
unsubdivided municipality.
Once a year, in early November, Council holds a Special Meeting to elect the Mayor
and appoint Council representatives to Council advisory committees and
external organisations.
Committees
Council has two committees – CEO Review Committee and the Audit and Risk
Committee. The CEO Review committee meets as required. All Councillors are
members of this committee.
Council’s Audit and Risk Committee meets four times per year – February, May,
September and November and Crs Cameron and Hansford with the independent
members, Peter Bollen (Chair) and John McDonald comprise this committee. The
Mayor is an ex-officio member to the committee.
Special Committee
Planning Committee is a Special Committee delegated to exercise Council’s powers,
discretions and authorities and perform Council’s function under the Planning and
Environment Act 1987 in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines of Council.
All decisions of the Planning Committee made within its instrument of delegation,
bind the Council and are immediately capable of being implemented without referral
back to an ordinary meeting of Council.
