Basketball/Player Coach Protocol Zero Tolerance (all sports) -- Automatic Technical Foul Inappropriate language/profanity Technical foul – loss of coaching box If directed at an official – immediate ejection Assistant coaches contesting calls Indirect technical foul to Head Coach – loss of Coaching Box Any physical or verbal display in a negative/demonstrative manner 2-game sanction Completion of NFHS “Teaching and Modeling Behavior” course before returning to coaching duties Technical foul – loss of coaching box Counts as 1 of 2 towards disqualification Counts as 1 of 5 personal fouls and a team foul If by a player – automatic technical foul Any physical or verbal display in a negative/demonstrative manner by school administrator Stop game and warn 2nd offense – Game suspended until administrator leaves the area If a player takes a step off the bench and they stop them – okay If players come off the bench, they must be ejected. If they come off and there is a fight, they are going to sit just like they participated in the fight. If the head coach comes out and is helping, great! If arguing, assess a technical foul. Note: When the officials are leaving the school with their bags around their shoulder and a coach berates them in the parking lot or anywhere else, issue a postgame ejection! Ejections – Must communicate to the coach and let him know whether it is a DQ or ejection. Don’t leave the gym without everyone knowing. Calling official must submit the report within 24 hours, but don’t delay. Do it that night! Report also required for DQ’s, etc so the players will have to go through the STAR program. Coach can be DQ’d (2nd technical for being out of box) OR ejected (disrespectfully addressing official). Get this right! Both require reports. Do not call a second Technical Foul on the coach during same dead ball interval unless he storms the court. Please let your partner handle this. Fighting adds 2 games to the suspension Link: http://96.10.237.82/fmi/webd#Ejections Rotations Primary Coverage Area Battling Complacency Definition: Feeling of uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one’s achievements. Feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to make them better Contentment Ways to Overcome: Embrace creativity or new ways of doing things Accountability Set the bar higher When you achieve one goal, set another
