Our Reference EY296347
Monitoring for provision judged as not met (with actions)
An Ofsted inspector, Heather Morgan, monitored your provision on 09/09/2014
following your inspection where the provision was judged to be not met (with
actions).
Outcome of monitoring
As a result of our inspection on 07/04/2014, we sent you a notice to improve. If you
were set actions at the inspection, or as a result of our subsequent monitoring or
investigations, these are included at the end of this letter.
We carried out a monitoring visit on 1 July 2014 to assess the progress you had
made in addressing the actions set for improvement. We found that although you
had met the actions set regarding documentation relating to the recording of
accidents, administration of medication and children's special dietary requirements,
you were not yet confident in using your records to underpin your practice. You had
not taken prompt and effective action to address the actions relating to children's
learning and development. We also found that you were not clear about the use of
appropriate strategies to manage children's behaviour, and an additional action was
set requiring you to improve your knowledge in this area. Consequently, we found
that you had not taken prompt and effective action to secure improvements in your
provision since your inspection.
We carried out a further monitoring visit on 9 September 2014 in order to monitor
the progress you were making in addressing these actions, which were due for
completion by 28 July 2014.
We found that you had increased your confidence in the use of documentation to
underpin your practice and had organised your paperwork to make it easier to access
and use. You had reviewed your behaviour management policy and discussed with
parents how to implement consistent strategies in the event of children presenting
challenging behaviour. You have also identified an appropriate training course to
further support you in increasing your knowledge of behaviour management
techniques.

You have been working closely with your local Early Years Advisor and have
implemented procedures to help you observe and assess children's progress. You are
keeping a clear record of your observations and tracking children's progress towards
the early learning goals. You have arranged regularly meetings with parents to
review and discuss children's progress and you are using your assessments to
identify activities that will help children build on what they already know and can do.
Having considered all the evidence, the inspector is of the opinion that the
childminder has taken prompt and effective action to address the points for
improvement.
Next steps
The next step will be a full inspection.
I hope that you have found the visit helpful in promoting improvement in your
childminding service. If you have any further queries please contact us on the
number at the top of this letter.
Yours sincerely
Nick Hudson
National Director, Early Education
