Tournament Director - DAA Community Portal

 DAA TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR
Throughout the year it is normal for Dubai American Academy to be hosting more than one
sports and activity tournament simultaneously. When this occurs, a Tournament Director will
be employed to step into the role of an acting Athletic Director. They will be responsible for
overseeing all tournament related issues and assist the Site Director. Positive teamwork and
communication between both the Tournament and Site Director is essential for running a
memorable event.
Specific responsibilities include​
:
❏ Meet and greet visiting athletes and coaches as they arrive and depart DAA
❏ Coordinate bus schedules of athletes and coaches to and from tournament venues
❏ Liase with Yvonne Sidani. Ensure that the hospitality coaches room has sufficient food
and beverages
❏ Issues regarding host families for visiting athletes
❏ Behaviour issues of student athletes. Ensure that tournament rules are being followed,
curfews are adhered to (MESAC) and exemplary behaviour is displayed to all coaches,
visitors, parents and officials
❏ Medical staff and supplies
❏ Facilitate the coaches ‘Welcome Meeting’ at the start of the tournament
❏ Attending the coaches social at the beginning of the event (where appropriate)
❏ Facilitating the student athlete social (where appropriate)
❏ Primary contact person for DAA hosting parents, coaches, athletes and spectators for
any tournament related question
❏ Assist the Site Director by confirming matches, tournament seeding and final results
❏ Assist the Site Director with the ​
Post Tournament Coaches meeting
❏ Present awards and coordinate the awards ceremony at the conclusion of the
tournament
❏ Meet with the Athletic Director at the conclusion of the tournament and report on
areas of concerns, tournament issues, behaviour, sportsmanship, suggested changes
and strengths
