Plus important next steps View in browser | Forward to a friend Member Update 26 May 2017 In-period data refresh - 14 June 2017 Following the successful launch of the initial measures earlier this month, we have seen steady improvement in data quality from both existing and new member hospitals. With the next periodic update not due until September, we have agreed in this first quarter to an interim refresh to update the site with new member data and corrections to existing data. This will happen on 14 June and is likely to have an impact on all participation hospitals. How will this impact you? Reminder: Important next steps 1. Move to the updated data specifications by 1 June 2017 Back in January we shared the New Data Submission Specifications which are to be used for all submissions from 1 June 2017 onwards. The new specifications include minor, but important changes to the extract script from your PAS system. Over recent weeks, we have been helping members with a range of data submission issues. Here we’ve assembled some tips covering the common issues and how they may be avoided. About the new data specifications Common submission issues 2. Implement Patient Consent by 30 June 2017 In August 2016 the CMA agreed to a temporary relaxation of patient identifiable data (NHS Number and postcode) until an agreed process and wording was agreed by NHS Digital. As we updated early last month, a model has been approved and consent wording should be implemented by 30 June 2017. All patients from 1 July 2017 should be consented and the data submitted with NHS number and postcode. Download consent wording Read our consent FAQs 3. Submit January to April 2017 data by 30 June 2017 At the beginning of September, the data period published on the website will roll forwards one quarter, publishing April 2016 to March 2017. Any outstanding coding or data issues must be resolved before 31 July when the data will enter a ‘freeze period’ allowing time for PHIN to check for any significant issues before publication. Members can view how their measures may alter in the forthcoming refresh the Website Preview Report in the secure Portal. View PHIN's Publication Schedule Login to the portal 4. Submit PROMs With the first performance metrics now presented on the website, we must progress quickly towards publishing further measures specified in the Order. To help with Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), we have provided some advice and tips. Members can view the PROMS participation report via the secure Portal to see which procedures/episodes were eligible for a PROM to be submitted and compare PHIN’s rates to data provided.
