FIELD RULES 2017 West Vancouver Adult Slo-pitch League We rent the Fields from West Vancouver District, but most of our fields are School Board fields (so we are under their purview as well). The following are the Terms of our Contract with West Vancouver District (and if we receive a Complaint regarding the breaking of these Rules, the League will apply ‘disciplinary action”): (1) No alcohol permitted at any sports field or park in West Vancouver. -a-Potties and equipment boxes must be locked up at the end of each game. The combo for all the locks is 9378 PAULINE JOHNSON EAST (1150-22nd Street) Any ball hit over the upper right field fence is a Home Run*. Any ball hitting the wall in right field and bouncing back into the field is a “Live Ball”. Any ball hit onto the grass tier on the fly or on a bounce in right field to the right of the cement stairs is a Ground Rule Double. Any ball which hits the cement stairs or beyond and to the left of the stairs on the grass tier on the fly is a Home Run*. Any ball bouncing into the cement stairs is a Ground Rule Double. Any incidental contact with the right fielder of the game on PJ West, which prevents the fielder of getting to the ball will be a Ground Rule Double. PAULINE JOHNSON WEST (1150-22nd Street) Any Ball hit over the fence(s) in left field, to the left of the cement stairs, on the fly or on a bounce is an “OUT” not a strike. This includes the portion of grass tier to the left of the cement stairs, onto the school roof or against the second floor wall. Any ball hit against the wall of south wall of the portable is a “Live Ball” Any ball bouncing into the cement stairs is a Ground Rule Double. Any ball which hits the ground beyond the stairs, and/or anything beyond the stairs, on the fly is a Home Run*. Any ball hit over the fence to the right (east) of the cement stairs is a Home Run*. Any incidental contact with the left fielder of the game on PJ East, which prevents the fielder of getting to the ball will be a Ground Rule Double. CEDARDALE (595 Burley Drive) Any ball hit over the fence on the fly in left field is a Home Run*. Any ball hit on the fly or on the ground into the bushes or trees, which is in fair territory, is a Ground Rule Double. If a fielder attempts to make a play on a ball and comes in contact with the ball, prior to it entering the bushes, the ball is live. Any ball hit into the Playground or the Basketball Court (without bouncing first) is a Home Run*. If it bounces first before going into the Playground, it is only a Ground Rule Double. Any ball that rolls down the hill in Center Field is a “Live Ball”. RIDGEVIEW GRASS (1250 Mathers Avenue) Any ball hit over the fence on the fly in right field is a Home Run*. Any ball hit into fence area in right field corner is ruled a Ground Rule Double. The portion of gravel field that is inside the first base foul line is in play 1 The jutting out wall & fence in Left Field is inside the Foul Line, so be very aware of it. ROCKRIDGE (5350 Headland Drive - across from Caulfield Plaza) Any ball hit on the fly or on the ground onto the road and beyond to the left of the second lamp post in right field is a Home Run*. Any ball rolling up or landing on the hillside is a Ground Rule Double. Any ball hit on the fly or on the ground onto the road and beyond between the first and second lamp post in right field is a Ground Rule Double*. Any ball rolling up or landing on the hillside is a Ground Rule Double. If the ball bounces off the bleachers in Centre Field & comes back in play, it is a “Live Ball”. Any ball hit on the fly or on the ground onto the road and beyond to the right of the first lamp post in right field is a Ground Rule Single*. Any ball rolling up or landing on the hillside is a Ground Rule Single. If a fielder attempts to make a play on a ball and comes in contact with the ball, prior to it getting to or landing on the hill anywhere in right and center field, is a “Live Ball”. SENTINEL EAST (1250 Chartwell Drive) Any ball hit over the fence in left field is a Home Run*. Any ball that hits the Fence in Left field/Centre field on the fly and stays in the brush/tall grass between the Ditch and the fence is a Ground Rule Double. If the Ball bounces off the Fence and over the Ditch back into play, it is a “Live Ball”. Any ball that bounces into the ditch and beyond in left field and left center field is a Ground Rule Double. Coaches must select the cut-off point prior to the game. Fielders must throw up their arms to signify a “Dead Ball”, or the ball is still a “Live Ball”. SENTINEL WEST (1250 Chartwell Drive) Any ball hit over the fence in right field is a Home Run*. Any ball that hits the fence in right field on the fly and stays in the brush/tall grass from the ditch to the fence is a Ground Rule Double. Any ball that bounces into the ditch and beyond in right field and right center field is a Ground Rule Double. Coaches must select the cut-off point prior to the game. EAGLE HARBOUR WEST (5575 Marine Drive) This Field is pretty open, with hardly any hazards. Any fair ball hit into the Goal Posts (chained to the Fence) in Right Field is a Ground Rule Double. (The Fielder must throw his arms up immediately, to signify “dead ball”. If a fielder attempts to a make a play on a ball and comes in contact with the ball prior to it entering the Goal Posts, it is a “Live Ball”. Any ball hit over the Fence in Right Field is a Home Run*. If the ball goes into the Alternate Backstop, it is a “Live Ball”. NOTE: MATCH PLUS ONE (*) - Small fields = more balls out of play - Purpose – keeping the ball in play At no time during a game will the number of over-the-fence home runs hit by one team be more than one greater than the number hit by the opposing team. EFFECT: Where an over the fence home run is hit that is in excess of the number allowed, a strike will be called on the batter. EXCEPTION: When a fair-batted fly ball deflects off a defensive player over the home run fence, the batter-base runner will be awarded four (4) bases. This will not be considered the same as an over the fence home run. 2 3
