Even Sick Children Want to Play December 15, 2016 the AGC of CT and the Connecticut Construction Industries Association’s Young Contractors Forum gathered for their annual Holiday Get-Together & Membership Meeting at the City Steam Brewery in Hartford. The group met for a legislative briefing discussing the election year that made history and a look at issues to anticipate in the year ahead. Also, the YCFers generously donated to their annual toy drive which directly benefits the patients and the siblings of patients at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. No shortage of construction related toys here! The Children’s Medical Center has over 300,000 patient visits a year and toys collected through the CCIA / AGC of CT Young Contractors Forum toy drive benefit CCMC in many ways. For both hospitalized patients and children visiting, toys are an important part of the patient experience and are used for comfort, distraction, entertainment, therapeutic play, reward and celebration. Even sick children want to play, which can provide a sense of normalcy in what can be a confusing and stressful environment. “The generosity and creativity of the young professionals is evident in the number and variety of toys donated, though more than a few items are large and construction related – all are very much appreciated.” Marci Lombardo, Donor Relations, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation AGC/CT Contact: Carol Hall, [email protected] 860.529.6855
