Diamond Hall Infant Academy Mission Statement
Together we will provide a welcoming, caring, stimulating, challenging, creative
and inclusive Early Years learning environment enabling all children to succeed
and meet the challenges of an ever–changing world.
Rationale
At Diamond Hall Infant Academy We aim to provide children with a safe and
secure environment, which enables them to develop self-esteem. We aim to
support children in their development of their social skills in order that they can
work and play to fulfill their potential. We expect all children to treat others
with respect and will teach children strategies to overcome differences without
aggression or violence. In the event that children do not behave as expected
within school we will take measures to prevent them from actively disliking and
bullying each other through the measures outlined within this policy.
Aims and Objectives
The aims of the Anti-bullying Policy is to enable the children and staff to:
 To identify early forms of intimidation in order to reduce opportunities
for bullying.
 To provide vigilant members of staff to supervise the playground during
play time and lunch time
 To ensure all adults act in ways which enable children to feel confident
about talking to adults in school about concerns and anxieties
 To ensure that all staff follow the school Behaviour Policy and use
rewards and sanctions consistently
 To regularly reinforce- the school's Behaviour Policy in all Year groups
 To ensure all parents are aware of our expectations for behaviour
through our Induction Meetings
 To ensure parental support for behavioural expectations through the
Home School Agreement.
 To emphasise to children that they are responsible for their actions.
 To encouraged each child to develop a sense of belonging and commitment
to our school community through our teaching in Nurture sessions and
Assemblies and class discussions.

Anti-Bullying Policy


To raise children's self-esteem through discussion and activities in the
PSHE curriculum particularly the use of the Nurture Programme and
Circle Time.
To ensure children are encouraged to respect and value each others
opinions in all other subject areas through paired talk, peer assessment
and group work.
Organisation and Implementation
Parents are made aware of the Behaviour Policy as their children enter school
through our induction meetings and at the beginning of each academic year are
requested to sign our Home School Agreement which sets out the contribution
of parents/carers to developing children's respect and consideration of others.
2. Adults in school investigate incidents when brought to their attention by a
child and/or parent or when they witness inappropriate behaviour.
3. Staff involve children in discussion about appropriate solutions to feelings of
being intimidated, including during a dedicated ‘Anti-bullying Week every year.
This helps children to understand what ‘bullying’ is and what to do about it –
including who to tell.
4. Staff members are trained to look for intimidating behaviour in the
playground at playtimes and lunch times to facilitate appropriate play, monitor
behavior and ensure that children are safe.
5. Parents are informed, in the first instance by the class teacher, of any
concerns regarding inappropriate behaviour by their child or any incidents of
isolated aggression, persistent aggression/ unkindness or bullying.
6. Support Plans are put in place to support children in addressing any behaviour
difficulties they may be having. Subsequent behaviours and attitudes are
monitored. Parents are informed and involved at each stage.
7. The management of behaviour is a regular focus of continuing professional
development in the school.
Equal Opportunities
All children and adults at Diamond Hall Infant Academy are valued as individuals
irrespective of gender, race, culture, religion or special need.
Although children may be exposed to different attitudes elsewhere, racism and
sexism will not be tolerated in the school and the action set out in the school
policies will be taken when incidents occur.
ASSESSMENT & RECORD KEEPING
The school monitors significant incidents including racist /homophobic with
subsequent action recorded.A log will be kept of any complaints of bullying and a
record of action taken by the school to change the behaviour. Detailed
observation notes will be taken over a fixed period to support the action to be
taken.

Anti-Bullying Policy



Their parents / carers being informed to support changes to pupils'
attitudes
Support to change will be given through programmes such as ‘Fun Friends’
and ‘Getting along Together’.
Alongside disciplinary steps change processes may include Circle time and
or Support Group Approach.
Further Disciplinary Steps
In addition to the usual sanctions detailed in the school behaviour policy in
extreme cases the Headteacher may use the following :
 Exclusion from certain areas of school premises or at certain times of
the day e.g. lunchtime
 Fixed term exclusion
 Permanent exclusion
In case of threats to staff or children by parents or other visitors to the school
the Headteacher may insist that perpetrators leave the site. Legal steps may
also be taken to prevent perpetrators returning.
Cyber Bullying
Cyber Bullying is any form of bullying which takes place online or through a
mobile phone. Although this not so relevant to the age of children within school
children may be open to this through online access at home or through older
siblings.
Cyber bullying will be addressed during Anti Bullying week ensuring children
understand for the future just as intimidating behavior is wrong so is this
behaviour online or through a mobile. Children will be given clear guidance as to
actions that should be taken in regard to any concerns.
FUTURE TARGETS
To work with parents and children in induction meetings and through discussion
and written communication to establish an understanding of the term bullying
which recognises the difference between isolated incidents and persistent
incidents which constitute bullying.
MONITORING EVALUATION AND REVIEW
The Head Teacher will keep the Governor's informed of any bullying incidents
through the Head Teacher's report to Governors.
