ROMANS 12:2 WELL PLEASING TO GOD IN EVERY WAY A. A.W.

ROMANS 12:2
WELL PLEASING TO GOD
IN EVERY WAY
A. A.W. Tozer:
“The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is
because they haven't yet come to the end of themselves. We're still trying to give orders, and
interfering with God's work within us. ”
B. Romans 12:1-2 (Amplified)
“I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of
God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies---presenting all your members
and faculties---as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) well pleasing to God,
which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.”
“Do not be conformed to this world---this age, fashioned after and adapted to its
external, superficial customs. But be transformed (changed) by the (entire) renewal
of your mind---by its new ideals and its new attitude---so that you may prove [for
yourselves] what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing
which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
C. God’s Will For Us:
Not to be conformed to this world
Transformed by the renewing of our minds
Prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God
D. Note how emphatic the command is:
Do not!
Don’t you dare!
Don’t let it happen!
E. The believer is not to conform, that is, fashion himself after the world...

F. 1 John 2:15-17
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love
of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world---the lust of the flesh, the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life---is not of the Father but is of the world. And the
world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides
forever.”
G. 2 Corinthians 3:18
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are
being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of
the Lord.”
H. The mind is “renewed” by the presence and the image of Christ in the life of the
believer. When a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ as His Lord, the man is
spiritually...
 born again (John 3:3-8; 1 Peter 1:23).
 made into a new man (Ephes. 4:24; Col. 3:10).
 made into a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17).
 given the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16; cp. 1 Cor. 2:9-15).
changed into the image of Christ (2 Cor. 3:18; cp. Romans 8:29; 1
Cor. 15:49; Col. 3:10; 1 John 3:2).

in a lifetime.” ― Elisabeth Elliot
